Up for auction is a 1979 Jeep CJ5 Renegade Levi's edition with an AMC 258 Straight 6 and 3 speed manual tranny. I bought this as another project vehicle, but have too many as it is. Overall is in decent shape for its age. It has been sitting in a barn since 1986 and been protected from the elements. Unfortunately it still has rust, but its pretty solid. The floor pan has some small holes but its all there, the body has some bubbles but no holes, and the windshield frame does need replaced, as it is pretty bad. The worst of the rust is in the back deck which can be seen in the picture. Other than that the body is in good shape with no dings or damage. Now for the mechanical aspects. Motor runs good, doesn't smoke or make any strange sounds. Probably could use a carb rebuild. The transmission and transfer case work good with no abnormal noises. I have driven it around the yard but not up to normal speeds. The only real problems with the vehicle are the radiator needs replaced, and the front differential is missing teeth on the ring gear and will have to be fixed before the 4wheel drive will work. Other than those issues, with a tune up, fresh brakes, and some work this would be a nice toy or driver. The Jeep comes with a newer soft top with all the bracing and matching doors, i would say new as its never been used but was bought a few years back. It also has a few misc parts in the back.
