Vehicle Detail
This old car could be bought to sell parts off of, use parts off of, or to restore. I believe its good for parts because most of the fastback related parts are there. It looks like all of the fold down rear seat is there, the rear air vents or boxes, the quarter panel covers, which is part of the enterior, the glass is there and not cracked, except for a chip out of the rear glass, which I believe wouldn't prevent it from sealing, and other parts are there, and in usable condition. The clear Indiana title and the car body, that matches is of value. I'm going to talk straight about this car and tell you what I know about it, but like anything else thats used, old and in poor condition, you're always going to find more things wrong with it as you go, while restoring it. This old car has been in a light front end colision, because the inner fender on the passenger side, in front of the shock tower, in the battery box area has been bent and straightened, but there doesn't appear to be any other damage to the car. The top of the car isn't really beat up like some I've seen. When you look at the top, you don't see any dents, but when you run your hand across it, you will find a few small dings. There's one small hole in the top that will have to be repaired and there's some light rust, which will have to be sanded and metal prep, or you might want to acid dip the whole car. The rocker panels will have to be repaired or replaced. I cut some good used inner, outer rocker panel assemblies, both left and right side out of an old coupe, which are the same. I'll throw these in with the car. The mounting brackets for the sun visors have rusted away, but I kept the top off of that old coupe, which has good brackets on it. I'll throw that old top in with the car. This car will need quarters, truck floor, rear part of the frame rails, front part of the passenger side rear frame rail will have to be patched. door skins or maybe doors, front fenders, hood and alot of other parts. If this car brings 1500 dollars or more, I'll throw in a rebuilt C 4 Transmission which has 60,000 miles on it. This transmission is a 1965 year and I drove the car the transmission cam out of. If this car brings 2,000 or more dollars, I'll throw in a rebuilt engine, which has 60,000 miles on it, but the engine has a few valves out. If I used this engine, I would only repair the valves that are leaking and maybe inspect and replace the cam and lifters because I got this motor bored 30 thousandths, new flat top pistons, crome molly rings, got the rods resized, got the crank turn under size on main and rod journals, new cam bearings, I got the block boiled out. The bottom end is a 289, but the heads are off of a 1968 302. My guess is the valve guides are o.k., because I instaled a new set of bronze wall thin wall guides. Everything in this auction is being sold as is, but I'm talking straight about it and telling you what I know.
