Vehicle Detail
I am the second owner. I bought the car from a Mercedes Benz dealer in 1997 with around 50,000 miles on it. The car served us very well for many years. It has never been involved in an accident. I was deployed for 18 months and last year we bought two cars. This one has been parked and got very little use over the last two years. Condition: Exterior: The overall condition of the exterior is very good. There is a ding near the 3 spots of rust as you can see in the picture. There is another small ding below the driver's door. If you look at the picture you can see it. It's minor and not distracting to the appearance of the car. Some various surface scratches. It could use a good detailing. It's a sharp looking car.The clear plastic housing around the lights in the front were replaced a few years ago with OEM parts. The rims are in very good condition. You can see in the pictures that the finish on the rims is in great condition compared to other vehicles of this age. There is also a full size spare on the same style rim. All the tires including the spare are in very good shape. Interior: The interior condtion is also very good. There is a small tear in the passenger seat in the back that I have taken a picture of. It was from a childs car seat. There are no cracks in the dash. All the wood work is original. The power seats and sunroof work fine. The carpeting is in great shape as you can see in the picture. I'm also including the original floor mats. One window button for the rear window needs to be replaced. It's a simple repair anyone can do. It latterly takes about 15 minutes. The vanity lights for the visor mirrors work fine. There was a Sony after market CD player installed that recently stopped working. I never bothered to investigate the cause. The power antenna no longer works. Mechanical: The engine works great. You have to give it a little gas on a cold start then it runs just fine. It still has plenty of power. It's about the same as the day I bought it. The tires, brakes and battery are all fairly new (replaced within the last two years or so). The odometer stopped working at 97,000. I don't know the current milage. I'm estimating it's around 200,000. The air conditioner also stopped working. A quart of oil needs to be added between oil changes. It's been like that since I owned the car. In it's later years, it seems to need a little more. We brought the car through emissions testing approximately last November or December and it passed. The biggest problem with the car is the transmission. The car wasn't shifting properly. I checked the transmission fluid level and it was low. I topped it off and it was fine for a while but it started acting up again. I recommend towing the car. We just bought two cars and this one I was going to keep for a spare, but I don't want to put any money into it. That was the only major issue with the car since I've owned it. It has been great and served us for many years. The car was always well maintained. I believe I have covered everything in detail. Feel free to contact me with any questions. If you want any more pictures or information, let me know and I'll get it to you. I believe I'm asking a fair price for the car. Someone who's handy can have a very nice car at a very good price. Thank you and good luck!
