Vehicle Detail
For your consideration I am offering my 1956 Studebaker Power Hawk Streetrod for sale. The body was removed from the frame and every nut, bolt, bracket, etc... was very carefully restored or replaced along with many custom pieces that I fabricated in my shop. First let's start with the frame. It was stripped and painted with PPG chassis black paint. It has a Heidts Independent front suspension with power disc brakes and a power rack & pinion sterring system. The rear is a 9" Ford with 3.00 ratio gears w/drum brakes and dropped leaf springs. At 60 mph it will tach at about 1200 rpm's. All new fuel and brake lines were installed along with a new gas tank. All suspension bushings are new along with all 4 shocks, front sway bar, and body mount bushings. The drivetrain consists of a 1958 Chevrolet 348 ci engine. The motor was rebuilt when I purchased it and it does have an Isky camshaft that has a very nice rumble and has ran-out very well with zero problems for the 4 years I have driven it. It sports a Edelbrock 4bbl Carb, and handbuilt custom air cleaner assembly, fenderwell headers, HEI distributor, and Offenhauser valve covers. The intake is stock GM that has been smoothed and painted. It also has a ZOOPS pulley system designed for this engine. The transmission is a rebuilt GM 350 THM with stock converter.Exhaust is all custom designed. Along with the fenderwell headers, the pipes and mufflers are hidden between the outside of the frame and the rocker panels and exit in front of the rear tires. The car also features an aluminum radiator and will not overheat even on the hottest day with the A/C on. The wheels and tires are American Racing Nitro Chrome 15 x 8 on all four corners with Goodyear tires. Now the body. The body is ALL STEEL, Every panel on this car has been modified in some manner. Although the body is 1956 vintage, it sports a front clip from a 1954 Studebaker. The pictures show the true scope of this one of a kind streetrod. Both bumpers have been shaved, narrowed, and tucked. The headlights & tail lights are frenched. The grill was modified and the entire car was dechromed prior to paint. The drip-edge and door handles were removed. The side windows operate with remote operators which allow access to the interior. All new glass and weatherstrips have been installed. The exterior paint is PPG Cool Vanilla base/clear that has been color-sanded and buffed to a stunning gloss finish. The paint is absolutley flawless, there are no disappointments here! The interior is 100% custom built. Starting in the rear I fitted the seat out of a 1968 Thunderbird and it wraps around the rear panels and into the rear window. The front seats are late model Chrysler buckets. The console is cutom built and holds the power window switches, floor shifter, emergency brake, and storage compartment. The door panels are also custom designed and the dash is smoothed with custom gauges. It has an Ididit tilt-column with a Flaming River wheel. I installed a Vintage Air heat and A/C unit. All wiring is new and includes a 21 circuit EZ Wiring System fuse panel. It has a 1-wire 100 amp chrome alternator. I have driven this car to many events in the past 4 years and it is a multi-show award winner including 2 awards from Studebaker Regional Meets along with numerous other trophies and awards. It is completely road-worthy and can be driven anywhere at any time. It was appraised in 2007 for $35,000.00 and I do have the documentation for that appraisal. My reserve is very reasonable so please bid to buy. This is a teriffic opportunity to own a great classic streetrod! Please email any questions you may have.
