History This is a very rare 1960 Datsun Fairlady SPL212. There were only 288 produced (wikipedia) as left hand drive for us Americans.Some tell me less than that. Who knows how many are still in existence. This particular car has crosses the ocean 3 times. It was produced in Yokohama Japan and shipped to US. A serviceman purchased the car and transported the car back to Japan where he had been stationed . My mother inlaw and her husband were stationed in Japan and purchased the car from him. They in turn returned the car back to the US when they returned(we have Japanese shipping documents). It has been all over the west coast in the 70's, Idaho, Washington, California(old registrations). Then moving to the east coast where it has been stored for about 20 years, last being inspected in 1992. This car is being sold as a restorers car and is in great condition to do so. It is an important peice of my mother inlaws history as my wife was brought home from the hospital in this when she was born in Japan. Discription This is a first year production of the Fairlady and it is the first year for the Nissan Motor Corporation in the USA. Recent examples of these cars for sale have all been second year production cars of 1961 The car was repainted sometime in the early 70's. Original color was green and white. Engine runs well-no smoke, starts quick Drove from one storage garage to another six years ago. Cannot drive now untill motor mounts are replaced. The oil pan is hitting crossmember. These mounts are rubber square stock and will be easy to replicate for a restorer. Outside looks in good shape with rust through on very bottom edge of rear quarters (looks worse in photos than actually is due to peeling undercaoting that looks like rot.) Frame is in excellent condition with no rot. Zooming in on photos will show that the frame is good and there is a thick layer of undercaoting that is peeling. Original black paint still shows in some places. Channel that looks to have supported body sides has rotted away as shown in photos ( not sure of the purpose of this as body seems structurally fine without it) Floor pans look to have surface rust but no rot All extra parts have been photographed including original radio and speaker, extra headlight assembly, 2 sets of hubcaps, partial side windows Drivers seat needs to be structurally repaired Softtop included but with holes due to mice during storage Visually missing parts are the antenna , duct control knob, side curtains Payment Payment is due in full at the end of auction.
