Vehicle Detail
2001 Suzuki SV650S Red w/ app 6,500 miles VIN: JS1VP52AX12105682 I purchased the motorcycle on eBay from a seller in Illinois in September of 2008 with the final bid coming to $2000. I picked up the bike a couple weeks afterward and brought it back to Troy and it has been stored at home in the garage ever since. I haven't done anything besides look at it to see what problems I could find. I also purchased an official Suzuki service manual for $70, which I'll be happy to provide you with for free if you decide to buy the bike. The reason this is being sold for parts is that I do not have and was not given a title (read below for explanation) when I purchased it. The previous owner drafted a bill of sale for me. If necessary I can provide you with this and have a bill of sale drafted if you choose. I was in the process of applying for a new title from the state of michigan, but didn't follow through with that. I can provide you with that form as well if you'd like. I cannot help you any further with obtaining a title. I've listed a couple options in the description below if you're interested. Problems/issues This motorcyle is not in operating condition, meaning that it does not run or start and has not been started in over 2 years at the time I purchased it. So because of this the engine and carbs are most likely "gummed-up" and may need a thorough cleaning of some sort along with replacement of seals/gaskets or whatnot to get it in optimal running condition with good compression. I'm not an expert on working on motorcycles so don't quote me on that. I have just done some basic research and have a pretty keen technical sense. I was planning to take this on as a project, but things changed and I moved to Thailand and have been here for the past year and a half. So that's my reason for selling it. The bike has been laid down before at low speed turning into a driveway on a gravel road according to the original owner. It has not been in an accident (other than what was just mentioned if that is to be considered as such). Body is in fair condition. Scratches and dings here and there. The left hand mirror stalk and shift lever mount are broken. Rear tire will need to be replaced. Chain is rusted and could be cleaned or replaced. Needs a new battery. And of course the less major maintenance work such as fluids, brakes, etc. I do not have a title for this bike, but this can be acquired if you're willing to go through a bit of trouble. From what I was told, the original owner purchased the bike brand new from the dealer in Illinois and had it financed through a local bank. I have posted the VIN number so you can check to see that it's not stolen or anything. He paid off the loan but didn't sign off to get the title in his name because he didn't think he'd ever sell it and didn't want to bother with it. So later on, he finds out that the bank he financed the motorcycle through has gone out of business. The reason for him wanting to sell the bike was because he bought a Honda Goldwing. This particular model is the sport variant, SV650S instead of SV650 (which is the naked version). The main difference being the added plastic body panels. It is a great beginner/intermediate sport touring bike and works well in city traffic and has low end power for the open road. It has a V-twin engine which stands out against most other sport bikes and will get you from 0-60 in less than 4 sec. It's also a good looking bike when it's tuned up. I’ve found a few different options for obtaining a valid title at this link for the state of Michigan. I think it may be similar to Illinois. michigan.gov/sos/0,1607,7-127-48268-29806--F,00.html There is also a service that will do the work for you but they charge a lot of money. getnewtitle.com And finally if you’re willing to go through the trouble there should be a way to track down which bank was on the lien to see if their assets were bought up by another bank and find out how to transfer the title. To arrange a time of day to look at the bike or if you have any other questions you can contact me on skype, user name: m0rsfidelum. You can also just reply to this post. The bike is still being stored at my Mom's house in Troy, MI. So she will be the one showing it to you and handling the purchase if you decide to buy it. The pictures with the date stamp were taken by the original owner. I asked my sister to take some new photos to show that the motorcycle is pretty much in the same condition I bought it in. She wasn't able to provide a complete set of different angles, because she wasn't able to move the bike. The only thing different is that the left side mirror has become detached now (before it was attached with electrical tape).
