Vehicle Detail
1924 Model T-Later build has 21 inch wheels along with the spare. Runs very well. It has a exhaust cutout pedal I added even though the cutout plate was on the exhaust pipe when I bought the car just wired open. Never been restored and is pretty original except for the floors have been replaced at some point and time. The upholstery finally got so bad it has been replaced also. The interior panels are still pretty old and could use replacing but I have left them as is. Does not have the original seat springs-bottom cushion is done in foam with a wood bottom. Maybe that is original for the roadster but I didn't think so. Anyway has the two kerosine auxillary front lamps and yes the wicks are good and they hold oil-no rust and the wicks will adjust up and down-not seized. I bought the car a few years ago from Los Angeles area and it is always been garaged. Only very minor surface rust here and there. Does not look to have been re painted. Paint has flat and shiny spots. It still has the original wire loom. This car has been mechanically maintained through out its life. Still has the original hickory spokes.Has a OOHga horn that the previous owner mounted on top of the engine. I don't think that is original but its fun to use. I have replaced the brake and reverse-low speed bands with Kevlor lining. The coils were all replaced a year ago with new not rebuilt. I have replaced the water hoses acouple of years ago. The starter had the brushes replaced. It starts with the hand crank or on the battery but will run best on the magneto. Yes the generator works along with the original amp guage. The engine was told to me to have beeen rebuilt when I had bought the car. I don't know but I do know it runs perfect. It starts easily, does not smoke and runs well. Of course with no odometer ( I had to put something in for E Bay) I have no idea of the miles on the car. I have installed a Anderson timer instead of the cheap Bakeolite cap. Also had replace the spark plugs and wires a year ago. The tires were dry rotted when I got the car so I bought 4 new Firestones with tubes 3 years ago. This car is very reliable for a 86 year old car and a lot of fun to drive around. It still has the 6 volt battery and all of the lights work. It has aftermarket brake light switch installed since I got pulled over one night by the PD for no brake light (only a tailight) So I added the stop light switch. It can be reversed back to just the taillight as original. I also added a $700.00 Bennet rear brake kit (Rocky Mountain Brakes) to stop the car better since I was doing tours at the time with a local Model T club and needed to stop going down hills versus just the stock brake band in the transmission. The car stops well for a T now. I also installed a battery cut off switch- see pics in the trunk. The top is old and patched and sewn in places. I have no idea how old it is but it still is usable. There are dings and small dents in places with paint missing here and there but over all a very straight body roadster. If you are looking for a easy car to restore that runs this may be it. If not just drive and enjoy it as is. I originally purchased it to have a restoration project but fell in love with it driving it around. You don't see many T's like this one pretty much used as they were and left alone still drivable. So I just drove it around town and went on day tours and put it in a few shows. Anyway the choice is yours. I would hate to see it get cut up for a rod. It saddens me along with my 9 year old son to part with it but times are what they are and I need funds for something else.
