Vehicle Detail
I’d been hunting cars all the way from the flat lands to the foothills to the end of the road when I found this TR6 languishing. It lay dormant and unattended on the side of a modest home down a long driveway. I could see the hard top from the roadway and knew I had stumbled across a gem. I quickly jotted down a friendly note and left without thinking much of it. Months later I received a call and it was the owner of the TR6. He told me he was relocating and the TR had to go. We scheduled a time to meet and I looked forward to the day. The tall, lanky man put away his yapping hounds (after cursing them) and led us to the Triumph. He had finished a beautiful Triumph for his son and this was his donor car. His son had crashed the masterpiece and this was all that remained. For some reason he had hung on for all this time. The man had travelled all around in these small British cars, which is no easy feat. He wound us some excellent yarns of road trip adventures. He gave us a nice pep talk and we exchanged handshakes and paperwork, loaded the trailer, and were on our way. The Triumph had taken a hit on the front, right on the nose. This section will need to be replaced. There are also some rusty section on the floor boards and battery tray. This being a California car, the rust is pretty minimal. The trunk was packed with spare parts. There are three spline and knock off pieces. The carburators are intact and look surprisingly decent. I have taken photos of all the spare parts and it’s pretty dog gone complete. The trunk area looks rust free and I don’t believe much, if any work will be needed there. The bumpers are sweet but will need attention on the left rear. The chrome is a bit dull but I only hit them once with polish. The transmission is in place and goes through the gears. There is a fly wheel present. I have not attempted to turn over the engine but I will and will update the ad before the week is out. The hardtop is in good shape however there is a dent on the roof. The windows are in the doors, there are no door panels. We placed some Camaro seats which should horrify some of the purists. Please specify if you want them removed. This TR6 needs a good home and a patient restorer. It would be unfortunate if it was sold for parts, but I understand. This is a big project so rookie wrenches may want to check the next ad. This car has all the potential to be special in anybody’s automotive family. Can you see the project through? I have all the shipping contact to get this delivered to your doorstep/shop. Please check my feedback and other auctions. Regards, HarrisOn Aug-18-10 at 13:19:48 PDT, seller added the following information:This vehicle has no reserve.
