For sale. An all original 1970 Scout 800A. This beauty is fresh out of storage. I've stored this truck for the last 10 years. The owner who now resides in England has asked me to help him sell it. This truck was originally put into service on a military base in Wisconsin. After having been in storage for 20 years a retired Navy officer purchased it, did the restoration and had it shipped to his home in Arizona. The present owner purchased it and had it shipped to his home, then in Chicago. The following year it was put into storage. The odometer shows actual mileage of under 22,000 miles. The Engine is a 4 cyl 196 ci 3 speed and was rebuilt to better than factory spec by Daytona Parts, FL. with approximately 1,000 miles on the rebuild. Other notes from the previous owner indicate that the fuel pump was replaced and both the front/rear axles were completely rebuilt and new front/rear brake drums were installed. Everything is solid, no filler to be found. I don’t believe the restoration consisted of a lot of body work as it has spent most of its life in storage. The owner says it has 557 gears which would attest to its low miles…..top speed is maybe 65mph. All the gauges work. I did notice that the light to the Speed o only works when the high beams are on. The engine is quiet and runs very well…..better after I put some fresh gas in it. Upon pulling it from storage, I had it professional looked over and serviced. A new water pump was installed, points cleaned and fluids replaced. Any rust that exists is surface rust primarily on the undercarriage. On a scale of 1 - 10, even with it being maybe a 15 year old reiteration, I give it a 8.5. You just don't find them like this anymore. It's definitely a must see.
