Vehicle Detail

1971 CUDA 340 Clone Loaded California car This 1971 Cuda Clone started life as a 71 Barracuda 318 slapstick auto, and came with factory Air Conditioning. This car has spent it's whole life in California. I bought the car from a good friend who owned this car since the early 90's. It actually had the California Blue plates when he got the car, but one was missing. When he went to register the car he let them know he only had 1 plate and they made him get new license plates. Up until the conversion from a Barracuda to a Cuda clone it retained it's original paint as well as drivetrain and interior. This was used as a daily driver around town with working A/C. Never "hopped up", modified or in an accident this car currently retains all of it's original sheet metal except the fron clip which was changed out for the Cuda front end. When I purchased the car some six years ago, my friend was in the process of restoring it in a clone fashion. The paint (in it's original color) had just been finished making it the first time the car had been repainted since new. The six year old metallic paint job is beautiful and shines like new. There are a couple of spots where the paint has imperfections, like top of the deck lid, couple chip repairs on the trunk corner, and a few small bubbles on the lower quarters just behind the rear wheels. Once I took possession of the car, I stripped out all the suspension and remaining drivetrain. I am an extremely particular owner so while restoring this car I used only the best parts I could find for the conversion.I always used original parts where available unless the repro parts were equal quality. Every piece of this car was restored, refinished, polished or rebuilt before being installed back on the car; Even areas you can't see like under the dash or inside the heater/AC box. The car is virtually impossible to tell from an original 71 Cuda other than the VIN.When I say everything on this car was restored or redone, I mean everything all the way down to the internal parts in the doors. Door latches, Door hinges, hood hinges, hood & trunk latches, etc. All locks are replaced with NOS and the keys match all the way to the console lock. Cuda trim on top of the doors, rear quarter peices & 4 piece tail panel trim is original restored. TTI Exhaust with all original hangers from body in correct locations. "Just Dashes" in Van Nuys, CA restored the dash pad, door panels, rear panels & seat backs. The wheels are powder coated 15x7 front, 15x8 rear. All new wiring harnesses (including electronic ignition style for engine) from M&H electric were used except the dash, which is an perfect original 71 rallye wiring harness. The stereo features upgraded speakers, all glass is in excellent condition, but drivers door has a few scratches. This is an original undercoat car so detail was even taken to re-apply that, too. I wanted almost every option available, this list includes: -Rebuilt 70/71 340 motor back to factory specs, except an original LD340 intake manifold -727 Slap Stick Automatic transmission, fully rebuilt as well as driveshaft -3.23 8 3/4 posi 489 case, rebuilt -Firm Feel T/A steering box (this is an original E body p/s box rebuilt with T/A internals by Firm Feel, inc.) -Power Disc Brakes (All new lines, hoses, rebuilt booster, calipers and master cylinder) -11" rear drums (all rebuilt also) -Front & rear Factory sway bars -Wheel opening moldings -Color coded sport mirrors -Black "Billboard" stripes -Front & rear painted rubber bumbers (reproductions) -Painted grill and lower valance insert (Both originals and in perfect condition) -Road Lamps (correct 71 set-up, lamps, brackets, wiring & relay are reproductions from Bob Evans) -Hood Pins (all original except cables) -Electronic ignition -3 speed wipers (restored) -Factory Air Conditioning (Completly rebuilt/charged with R-12) -Tinted Glass, all windows - Power Windows -AM/FM stereo original radio, works fine -Console cassette (appearance only) -5 speakers with fader (NOS fader control) -Rallye dash (Guages restored by redline guages) -6 way seat. All original components including spacers and underbody brackets -Light group -Tuff steering wheel -Pedal dress up -Space save spar tire -Headlight time delay. Lights stay on for about 30 seconds after you turn them off. I also have the original build sheet and fender tag. I hope you get the picture-there was no money spared in doing this car. It has just over 1500 miles on it since it's complete restoration. Almost everything is dialed in now, and the car can be driven anywhere. The only issues are the tachometer not working, and the clock works on & off. Redline guages said they would be happy to correct any problems with them. The console has a small crack in it near the shifter that was reapires, but I wanted to let you know about it. This car was built to high standards, but also as a driver. I am selling the car because I have too many things going on right now. I have 9 cars and want to bring it down to a more managable number. All the cars I am selling will appear on eBay. The miles may be different that what is listed in the auction because I will still drive it on nice days. Pick-up or shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. This car is being sold as-is and there are no warranties, expressed or impied by the owner. Feel free to call me and talk to me about this car if you are interested. I can be reached at 714-292-3932. Leave a message with your number if I can't be reached and I will call you back.
