Vehicle Detail
1947 MG-TC, TC3419, XPAG 4027, build date of 26 August 1947, titled in Virginia as a 1948. I've been a member of the New England MG T Register since 1965 and have owned and seen many T-Series cars. This one is as good as any which hasn't been through a restoration. Nor should it be! This car is more suited to someone who wants to drive and enjoy. Is it in showroom condition? Heck no! But it DID win the Mayor's Award at the prestigious Hunt Country Classic in Middleburg, VA, last year and it also won 2nd place for TC's. The fact that there were only three TC's showing is irrelevant. Almost. Original, matching numbers, unrestored except for a now tired and worn repaint done in the 60's, strong runner, solid wood, good mechanics, rust and damage free, good chrome, rebuilt brakes and carbs, original FT-57 fog lamp, rare and original steering wheel, turn signals, Inskip bumpers, correct and original Lucas headlamp and sidelamp lenses, old Amco vinyl interior but new Moss leather kit and carpets included, well used tires, Tompkins kit, fully functional gauges and electrics, unmolested firewall, correct air cleaner, strong transmission, good clutch, starts quickly, ready to drive anywhere on a moment's notice. It had a heater which I took out but which I will include with the car. The top is shabby at best. I've never been one to use a top no matter the weather. The tonneau is new canvas. The speedomoter and tachometer are black faced. In my experience that's very unusual, but ironically my '49 is the same. I posted the mileage as 25,000, which is slightly over what it currently shows. As anyone who owns one of these knows, unless it's FULLY documented from day one it's difficult to verify mileage. I do have receipts going back to the '60's. I'm selling after finding it in Pittsburgh some years ago and buying it from a previous owner who owned it and cared for it nicely for almost 40 years. I don't WANT to sell it but I need to be reasonable with myself and focus on my 1949 TC. And on my other cars. And on my motorcycles. And on a little yard work now and then. You old car owners know the deal. I want this to go to a good home. A careful look at the passenger side engine picture will show the Marshall supercharger I've been running on the car. The Marshall does NOT go with the car. It stays with me!On Aug-30-10 at 16:11:22 PDT, seller added the following information: I want to emphasize that I have NO IDEA what the true mileage is! I am NOT opining that 25,000 is correct! But I can say with expert opinion that it's NOT 125,000! The car is too structurally sound to have been around the odometer once.
