1966 Thundmerbird Q code 428 Landau with very rare cruise control and A/C. I bought this car about a year ago from a lady down the street from me when her husband died, she was the original owner and the car had been sitting in her barn since 1985. I brought the car home and cleaned and etched the gas tank and fuel lines out, replaced all fluids, spark plugs, oil filter etc.. The car fired right up. Since then I have done the following. New master cylinder, rebuilt the original brake booster, rebuilt the original brake calipers, new brake lines and proportional valve. All done by Larry's Thunderbirds in CA. New Radiator, water pump, belts, new power steering pump, new starter, all rebuilt original parts except the radiator it' new exact reproduction and fuel pump new exact reproduction spark plug wires, radiator hoses with fomoco logos new exact battery cables. The tires have less than 250 miles on them. The door gaps are near perfect and the doors open and close with no effort and are solid as a rock sounding when they close. The exhaust system is brand new installed exactly like the original with a H pipe. The transmission was serviced with new filter and it was cleaned out and inspected. New carpet kit and the original build sheet was under it The hood hinges were bead blasted and painted back the original colors. The carb was rebuilt and it;s the original autolite carb with original tags still on it. New Ford motorcraft battery. The intake manifold still has the original tags on it also. The Tbird is wearing it's original paint but it's showing it's age, the hood needs painting as the paint is peeling and is gone at the very front and it has a small rusted area on the drivers side rear fender area as shown in the pictures. there is a sanded spot on the drivers side the is in primer and I see no damage to the area not sure why. There is no dents. The floor pans are just like brand new, no rust anywhere and the I pulled the tar strips out of the trunk and there is no rust in the trunk area. I have the fender skirts and there are no issues with them. The 428 runs good once it has some heat in it as the Tbird is cold natured. I think it could use a new choke. The car rides like a dream as it is very smooth. The original radio, power seat, rear turn sequencer lights all still work! There is one thing the car needs and that is to replace the exhaust manifold gasket on the passenger side. I have all the original style parts, bolts,locking washers, gaskets and heat shield for it. Also the drivers side window will not roll up but the other power windows work. This a solid original car that just needs a little TLC I have the original spare tire etc.. The interior is in very nice original shape, but the door panels need to be replaced if you want a show car. The dash is perfect and has no rips or tears. I see 100% no issues with original vinyl top, there is no bubbles under or anything I can see. Not sure what else to say so don't hesitate to ask questions. The door tag reads: Body 63D Color N Trim 62 Date 18A DSO 22 Axle 1 Trans 4 This is the original engine, C6 transmission, Carburetor, Paint. I have the original owners manual, build sheet and lots of original paper work. I also have every receipt for all the parts etc.. that has been done to this Tbird.
