Vehicle Detail
Purchased this car in June 2007 off a lot in Brooklyn. He had bought it at auction in 2004 from the parking garage the original owner had kept it in. The original owner kept this car garaged and impeccably maintained. All service records dating to 1969. The paint is in fairly poor condition and there are several rust spots but the undercarriage is in great shape with little or no rust- I believe this was from sitting in the sun and snow in the lot for 3 years. The interior is in pretty good condition. The headliner is intact as is all the other upholstery except for the drivers seat which has a worn-through spot on it. The front driver’s floormat should be replaced as well. The dash does have some cracking. The rubber needs replacing, particularly in the trunk. I had the engine rebuilt by a “mechanic” after the timing chain went. After mishap after mishap, I took the car back from him in semi-running condition and found an extremely competent and trusted mechanic. The original mechanic had installed the timing gear backwards and it had cut into the head, which was repaired as well as the following: 2-2008 New brake system- pads, rotors calipers hoses rear sway bar links temp gauge steering box and shaft coupling injection pump shutoff cable mount front vacuum pump diaphragm battery and cables secure radiator transmission throttle linkage fuel line, filter and nozzles diaphragm at rear of injection pump valve adjustment reinstall timing gear 3-2008 new speedometer cable speedometer rebuilt oil and lube 5-2008 horns, wipers, headlights rewired In May 2008, the car was involved in an accident. A delivery van made a left hand turn into the front drivers side. My mechanic sent me to his body shop where he has all his restorations done. The driver’s insurance company declared the car totaled. After long negotiation, they settled for payment of all repairs done to the vehicle, given that I was restoring the car. However, the title is salvage since the cost of the repair far exceeded the worth of the car as determined by their adjusters. The car is roadworthy and safe and passed NYS state inspection in June 2009. However, it will have to be re-inspected prior to driving or re-registering. repair repaint fender, new bumper new headlight assembly 11-2008 flasher relay 6-2009 new exhaust system brake light switch 8-2009 alternator and voltage regulator instrument cluster The car has been stored in Connecticut since November 2009, but is turned over regularly and starts immediately without any problem. The blower motor needs to be replaced, and my mechanic removed the air conditioner compressor when he repaired the electrical system, it is in the trunk along with an additional instrument panel. The records show the transmission was replaced at 186K miles, the linkage is a little off and could use some adjusting. Because of the accident, the title is a salvage title, but the car is roadworthy and passed NYS safety inspection in June 2009. It will need to pass a safety inspection and be certified before being able to re-register and drive it. The car must be picked up from the current location in Connecticut. The new engine only has about 1000 miles on it, if that. This could be a great daily driver with just a little cosmetic work- all the mechanical work has been done. A $500 dollar deposit is required within 2 business days of the end of the auction, with full payment within 5. Thanks for looking.
