Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a used 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle. The car belongs to my brother-in-law (Jim) who has owned the car for 20+ years. I am very familiar with the car and can probably answer most of your questions. Jim is available for additional questions or a direct phone call. Jim drove the car as a daily driver for many years and parked it several years ago with everything working. It has been sitting for many years and the condition of the engine is unknown but likely fine. The engine is the original 283 with a powerglide transmission. The transmission is not original, but is correct for the car. There are 50+ additional pictures available at photobucket and the address shown below: http://s940.photobucket.com/albums/ad247/jimscar/ In the pictures you will see that the car is missing the carburator and distributor cap and wires. Theses items were stolen shortly after the car was parked. The front bumper is also missing. Otherwise the car appears be be reasonably complete. Below is a description of the condition of the major items of the car (best I can based on my inspection of the car, the day I took the pictures): Engine-transmission: original 283 engine-- was running fine when parked--only option appears to be power steering--after market intake and headers--no distributor cap or wires---powerglide transmission was working fine before parking, not original but correct. Rear: 10 bolt with 411 non-posi Body: hood has rust holes under front where the latch is located. Front fenders have small rust holes and bottom near doors and some surface rust. Doors appear to be in good condition except for the hinges which have allowed the doors to droop. When you lift the doors a half inch, the body lines are fine. Rear quarters have the surface rust as shown in the pictures and some body filler and a few areas of rust. One quarter has a medium dent as shown in the pictures. The trunk lid appears be be in good shape inside and out. The inside of the trunk was redone before the car was parked. It appears to be whole now. The pictures of the trunk don't show it very well because I didn't remove the transmission and some old cardboard before taking the pictures (the trunk pictures are misleading because the old cardboard looks like rust, but it is not). The transmission in the trunk does not go with the car. I am not sure but the jack may be the original for the car. The door jam on the diver side has rust holes at the bottom near the quarter, as shown in the picture. The other seems ok. The top of the car seems to just have some surface rust. The areas around all the windows appear to be in real good shape. Frame: Much of the frame has surface rust. I couldn't get under the entire car but I found two areas with some rust damage. The area of frame just below the front edge of the door (where the frame curls up some) has some rust holes. This area appears to be where an inspection hole was placed. The pictures show this damage well and the drivers side is worse than the passengers side. Interior: The dash appears to be in average condition but is missing the shift knob. The accelerator pedal (rubber part) is also missing (Jim drove it w/o the pedal). The door panels are in need of work, especially the passenger side. The seats where covered with a cloth seat cover. I was amazed to see what was under the cover. The front and back seats appear to be in very good condition. There are very dirty, but may clean up nice. The car needs carpet but the floor looked ok from a view underneath (I didn't pull the carpet, and I could only see part of the floor). The headliner is complete and is not hanging down. The pictures are poor but there is a hole about 1 inch in diameter near the front. Otherwise it appears to be complete. Other: The keys for the car appear to be the original keys (stamped GM). We believe the mileage is correct at 78k, at least for the 20+ years owned by Jim. The glass for the car is complete and appears to be in very good condition (best I can tell w/o getting out the Windex). The cars title is clear (not salvage) and is a Delaware title. NOTE: Ebays insertion/listing fees are expensive. I have no choice but to ask for a deposit equal to the listing fee. Otherwise I could be out the money for a "tire kicker" A deposit of $125 must be made right after the bid closes (Paypal preferred). The deposit is not refundable since Ebay charges me no matter what happens with the purchase. I'm sure that anyone buying the car will find the description accurate. The remainder of the purchase cost can be Paypal, cash, or acceptable bank checks. Sorry no trades wanted. Buyer must pick up car within two weeks of the bid close unless we make other arrangements. I can help you load the vehicle The car can be viewed before bidding by contacting me. Also, I will try to answer all questions as accurately and honestly as possible. The car is not running and will take some work to get it back on the road. It is however, a reasonably complete and rare car. Jim is only selling because he wants someone to bring the car back to life. He has way too much on his plate to restore the car.
