Vehicle Detail

1965 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER TOWN SEDAN History The introduction of the all new 1965 Chrysler line featured ads proclaiming “The most beautiful Chrysler ever built, Agreed?” The lineup was the first effort of a new to Chrysler designer, Elwood Engel, who had defected from Ford in 1961. He had designed the elegant 1961 Lincoln and Thunderbird lines as well. The public must have agreed, as a record 224,061 new Chryslers of all series rolled off the line at Jefferson assembly in Detroit. A total of 16,339 New Yorker Town Sedans were produced in 1965. They came with a 340 HP 413 cubic inch 4 barrel V8 engine, backed by a 727 Torqueflite transmission. Power Steering and Power drum brakes were standard. The Town Sedan offered here sold new in Rochester Indiana. It is a very early 65 as the Vin denotes. It has some features that are the same as 64 models and not usually found on 65’s. It also has the CLEAR taillights specific to early 65 New Yorkers. I purchased the car from the original owner’s estate in 1994. The mileage at that time was around 42,000. Because of the low mileage and the beautiful condition, I have driven this car very little in the 16 years of my ownership. The current mileage is 45,178. I am sure that this is the correct original mileage. The mileage is exempted on the Indiana title in my name. The car is currently licensed and insured. I have always garaged the car during my ownership. Condition This Town Sedan has a beautiful rust free body with nice chrome and an unusually nice original interior and trunk. There are clear plastic covers that have protected the seats since new. It runs and drives great and is very powerful. This car delivers 15-18 MPG highway on 89 Octane gas. The mostly original paint is beautifully polished. The original emblems and trim are very nice as shown in the photos. There are a few touchups and nicks in the finish, but is quite presentable. It has Power steering and brakes, Power windows, 6 way Power seat and an AM Radio. Everything works including the clock, which runs if the car is used regularly. The Heat and Defroster system works fine as well. It has nearly new 215.75 x 14 all season radials. About a year ago, I totally rebuilt the brakes, repacked the wheel bearings and converted the system to Silicone fluid. Details This is a presentable 1965 Chrysler New Yorker Town sedan in beautiful original condition with many original features that you can drive to Cruise Ins and shows right now. You can get into the Collector car hobby with a turnkey car. I believe that this New Yorker can be driven to any destination. It is freshly serviced and ready to go. I have done my best to make an accurate detailed description of this car. If there is any aspect that is not mentioned or you require additional information regarding an item, please e-mail or call Larry at 317-862-2020 with any questions or to schedule an appointment to inspect and drive this Chrysler sedan before the auction ends. Please do not bid unless you intend to purchase the vehicle. I will do whatever is necessary to expedite the delivery to include picking you up at the Indianapolis airport or meeting your shipper. Please Note: I was recently given undeserved Negative Feedback from a buyer that got into a Bidding War with another legitimate buyer. Apparently the buyer thought the other bidder was not real due to his 0 Feedback status. Both bidders contacted me and asked that I end the auction early.
