Vehicle Detail
1947 Lincoln Continental The Continental Wheel set it apart from all other cars. This Regal Blue, V12 Lincoln Continental Coupe with red leatherette upholstery is part of my husband's personal collection. He purchased the restored Continental from a collector in California and has enjoyed it for more than 10 years. It’s time to pass it on to another car lover. He loved these beautiful machines of yesteryear and believed they should be as they were built. There are not modifications to this car as far as I know. The bright work is in very good condition with no pitting. There is no rust. There are fender skirts, wide white wall tires, a fog lamp and the correct 1947 Lincoln hubcaps. The paint is showing signs of wear so rated the car a #3 -- a 20 footer. The 1947 Lincoln Continental had few design changes and they are on our ’47 Continental; namely newly designed hubcaps (“Lincoln” on the hubcap), an altered hood ornament (longer wing) and “pocket” interior armrest. Mechanically this ’47 Lincoln runs smoothly. It’s a good driver. It has a 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive. Very few miles have beem put on this car in the years we’ve owned it. My husband would choose a different of his many classics and proudly drive it around our small town. Minor repairs have been done as needed; e.g. replaced water pump, brake reline, etc. The only modification is an electric fuel pump for easier starting, which can be readily removed. I'm unsure of the mileage since the frame off restoration. The speedometer reads 72,395. The classic cars of yesteryear were a joy to my husband. He maintained them so they purred. To keep the cars in the condition he loved, I now have his mechanic maintain the cars. He's a genius with old classics and comes to start them weekly. All our cars are garaged. At an opening bid of $20,000, this car is a bargain. I'll try to answer your questions and if I'm not sure I'll pass them on to our mechanic.
