Vehicle Detail
I offer for auction a really cool 1973 Volkswagen Transporter in running condition. I purchased this bus a month ago for my daughter who just turned 16. Iam parting with it reluctantly because I really like it but it simply was not a good choice for her mainly because of the lack of power steering. The title reads 89,790 actual miles but the mileage is growing slightly because I am still using it some until it sells because it is really is fun to drive if you can handle the lack of power steering and A/C. It draws alot of attention and comments ( all positive! ). The body has some rust but it is not terrible. My plan was to restore it a little at a time while still driving it because it drives down the road pretty well. The brakes feel good and work well. The clutch feels good and works well. The transmission works well in every gear. One of the valve covers was leaking so I had both of them replaced. Brand new battery. The front seats are in great condition and the middle bench seat is pretty nice but the rear bench seat has at least one tear in it.It is missing one hubcap. I found some literature in the glove box that indicated that the bus originally came from Arkansas, which probably why the frame is in such good condition with no rust issues that I could see.All windows are good with no cracks. The floor board is very solid with just a couple of spots that are rusted through. I will add pics of those areas. The chrome headlight rings, mirrors, and VW center emblem on the nose are in great shape. It does have a decent sounding Kenwood CD player it. I think this would be great candidate for a total restore since it is still very original and driveable. I was told by someone who seemed to know alot about these vehicles that this was converted from fuel injection to dual weber carbs. All four tires are good. and there is spare that I am not sure about. I have never owned a Volkswagen before this one and dont claim to be an expert on the mechanics but I think it is pretty sound. The motor is noisier and has a different sound than what I am used to but I am told that it is normal for this type of engine. The bus is located in Noblesville ,IN and can be seen by appointment. I will check mail regularly. I will try to add some pics of the underneath tomorrow.Because of the age of this vehicle it will be sold AS IS. The title is clear.
