Vehicle Detail
ABSOLUTELY NO RESERVE! ~5 DAY AUCTION ONLY~ OVER 100 DETAILED PHOTOS SO PLEASE BE PATIENT WHILE THEY ARE LOADING... This Porsche 911S needs no further introduction... 1972 was the one and only year Porsche ever installed the oil tank at the passenger side quarter panel for even weight distribution. Only after one year of production this unique feature was immediately discontinued. This was also the first year Porsche introduced the 2.4 litre motor and 915 5-speed transmission to the model. With 190bhp @ 6500 RPM, the flagship 911S was at the very top of the echelon compared to the basic (T)ouring and middle (E)inspritzung model. During this year 13,000 Porsche units were produced, of which only about 989 were "S" Targas. It is easy to understand why the 911S has become one of the most desirable models on the market... For your consideration is 1972 911S Targa with the RARELY AVAILABLE Recaro Sport Seats! This particular example is presented with the original maintanence booklet that is often misplaced. Fortunately, this 911 was not a subject of obnoxious upgrades and has evaded ducktail spoilers, wide fiberglass flares or an 1980's era interior that these early long hood 911's, unfortunately, are notoroius for having... Interior: Fantastic Tilting Recaro Sport Seats are in great condition only showing normal wear - all adjusters/sliders/recliner work well still retaining the original black "Recaro" singnature knob. Beautiful four spoke butterfly steering wheel wrapped in genuine leather in excellent condition- one of the best I've seen! This interior retains its door pockets with NO UNUSUAL SPEAKER HOLES! The dash with the speaker grill in the center is in good condition with the exception of a hairline crack in the center, very common on these 911's. The headliner is in excellent shape with no unusual rips, tears or stains. Sit in the cockpit behind the infamous Porsche 5-gauge cluster. All gauges work fine with the exception of the clock. Exterior: The paint looks in reasonable shape for its age and still retains its shine however, it does contain chips and scratches. There is also a dent at the passenger quarter panel. Still retains its iconic S bumper spoiler and original orange bar hood badge. Battery boxes and front suspension pan are solid, floor pans are overall solid with the exception of some rust at the jack spurs and near driver's wheel well area. Targa top is in great condition! The 4 date matched (72) rims are wearing 4 Brand New Goodyear Tires. Mechanical: Drives like a real early long-hood Porsche 911 should- The 6 cylinder horizontally opposed air-cooled motor starts right up everytime and produces great sound and power. It has the upgraded oil-fed chain tensioners. The original engine must have failed at some point as it has been replaced with Weber carbs, engine # *6292207*. The 5-speed 915 manual transmission with standard “H”pattern shifts nicely into each gear and pulls through the RPM’s with power. Previous owner decided to switch oil tank to the engine compartment because of difficulty finding the right replacement tank, however it is reversible. The car comes with a clear CA title that is ready to be handed off to the new owner. It is my pleasure to assist in domestic and international shipping, however the buyer is still responsible for making the arrangements and shipping costs. Please, inspection of the vehicle allowed BEFORE the auction ends or before placing bids. Vehicle is sold in as-is condition with no warranty written expressed or implied. SO, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?? YOU KNOW A GOOD DEAL WHEN YOU SEE ONE AND THERE'S ONE IN FRONT OF YOU RIGHT NOW! THANKS FOR LOOKING AND HAPPY BIDDING! PICTURES ARE WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS, PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO VIEW THEM BELOW. On Jul-31-10 at 11:53:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Winning bidder must make payment within 3 days after auction's close. Payment methods accepted: bank wire and cashiers check. Cashiers checks must clear (1 week) before releasing. Thank you
