Vehicle Detail

Purchased in 1972 from a military guy that was redeployed to the US from Germany where he bought the car new. It was mainly serviced at Foreign Auto Service in Alexandria, VA and has only had OEM Mercedes Benz parts used during it's life. It was in one accident about 15 years ago when someone hit it on the driver's side front fender (that's why the paint color is different in the front). It has a few somewhat rare options and here are some other specs: 230S Sedan means "luxury" version of the 4 door Benz of the time 2300CC 6 cylinder over-head-cam 2 valve engine with dual (2) Zenith two-barrel carburetors 4 speed automatic transmission (somewhat rare) Front Disc, Rear Drum brakes (replaced 1 year ago) MeisterKool air-conditioning (rare option, working condition, needs freon) Full-sized spare tire Original Mercedes tool kit included (rare find) Original Becker AM/FM/Shortwave radio It is in good mechanical condition (runs, transmission works well, brakes are new) but it does have rust on it so I would call the cosmetic condition "Fair". -How long have you owned it, and has it been driven regularly? It has been in our family for over 35 years. My parents had this '66 230S and another '66 230S that was sold when my father passed away (my Mom wanted to keep the one with the automatic tranny). It was driven regularly until about 8 years ago when my Mom passed away. It has been driven less than 1,000 miles a year since then. -In the interior in decent shape? Interior is decent. The upholstery is "MB Tex" which is a very tough vinyl that looks like leather but wears like iron. It had sheepskin seat covers on the front seats for most of its life. The wood dash shows age but still looks pretty good. The top of the dash is in very good shape for its age. The rear deck behind the rear seats and the window "pillars" at the edge of the rear windows need to be redone. There is also a 3 inch hole in the headliner hidden by the passenger sun visor. -What immediate needs should be addressed? Carburetors were rebuilt about 3 years ago, but could use some attention to balance them correctly and get the chokes working properly (car needs to fully warm up to run well). The A/C needs to be evaluated and I believe that all it needs is a recharge on the freon. Other than that, it just needs to find a home where it can get some TLC and be driven regularly.
