Vehicle Detail
FOR SALE is 1963 Mercury Comet Convertible S-22 Red on Red (NO RESERVE!) This car is in fantastic shape runs and drives perfect. I purchased this car in 2007 and have taken the best care of it that I possibly can and have put about 600 miles since I have owned the car. I can say that this car starts right up, purrs like a kitten while its running and drives just as straight and smooth as any car I have ever owned. Specs: Make: Mercuy Model: Comet Convertible Package: S-22 Sport Package Engine: 6 Cyl. 170 C.I.D Transmission: 4 Speed Manual Milage: 64K Options and Notables: New Clutch 2007 Brake Overhaul in 2008 (New wheel cylinders, shoes, fluid, hardware, machine drums etc) New rear main seal in 2008 Clean title and registration in TX as Antique vehicle till 2013 NO Decernable signs of rust. Trunk, floor pans etc are all 100%. Car came from the factory with a spray undercoating that is in great shape and has protected all the undercarriage. As far as ths history of this vehicle goes, here is what I know. First of all this is NOT a 100 point show car, its a driver and a "20 footer". That is from 20ft it looks like a show winner but up close it has its share of things that could be updated. This car is an older restoration / repair. It has been repainted in the original color and has the front clip from a 62. When I purchased the car it needed a clutch and new brakes, which I promptly did/had done. I also cleaned away 40 years of dust and grime and gave the top coat a good wax and buff to bring out the shine. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate this car as a 8.5, its in the best condition possible for a relativly unrestored 47 year old car. I wouldnt take much to turn this gal into a real gem and award winner and I would not hesitate to take her on a long road trip. In fact I have driven the car myself from Dallas to Austin and back twice without the slightest problem. Its long and smooth and turns more heads and gets more thumbs up from passer by's than just about anything on the road. If you want to cruise old skool cool then this is definetly the car you want. I really would rather not sell this car, she is an amazing piece of work and a real diamond in the rough. Accoring to Mercury production data the only produced 5000 convertibles in 63 and there cant be many of them left especially in this shape. Not to mention that in the last 3 years that Ive owned it, the car has increased in blue book value each year despite the economy. Alas, this fall Im heading back to graduate school and have a family to support while I pursue my degree. So while its a damn lousy scenario, the welfare of my fam must come before my highway style and the car has to go. :( Please be advised that this car is also forsale localy and I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time. Again, this car is being sold with NO RESERVE so the highest bidder takes it! There will be a $200 deposit due within 24 hours of the auction closing. If you have any questions or want to know more about the car please dont hesitate to shoot me an email or give me a call.
