Vehicle Detail
I purchased this car 2 years back and never had the time to restore it to the condition it desires. Previous owner had started restoration but lost his life in the line of duty 6 years before I purchased it. He purchased the car, drove it several miles to their home and started restoration. The only things he removed were the door panels, door glass, power motors with regulators and the speedometer cluster to replace some of the cluster lights. I unbolted the seats but all items seem to be there. The car was always stored inside from the time they bought it, according to his wife. The car was not running at the time I purchased it but replaced the fuel pump and it fired right up with no smoke, knocks or noises. Brakes were very weak and still are (leaking caliper r-rear) but I did drive it from a short trip. The transmission shifted out perfectly, and the car ran good. I started it several times and lot drove it before storing it back in the fall of 2009. Now it will not start without dumping some fuel into the throttle body and will run until the fuel burns out. May be the fuel pump again because it was an over the counter Auto Zone pump. Body shows no signs of serious previous damage, frame is super solid, all glass is good, several sections of weather stripping are very good, and mirrored tops are very good, (not perfect). Car will need paint and seats covers plus carpet replaced to make a good driver. Wheels will clean up nicely. I did a quick cleaning on one wheel with Mothers and it really looks good.. Front rubber is about 75% and rear is about gone. Under the hood looks to be untouched and still factory original. Headlight doors open and close as they should. This is really a great restorable car but just don't have the time and we are selling the property where it is stored. I am selling with no reserve and as is so please ask questions. Thanks for looking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On Jul-22-10 at 14:36:23 PDT, seller added the following information: Just an update on the car and it is NOW RUNNING!!!!!!!! I worked on it for about 20 minutes and found that both throttle body atomizing nozzles were a bit clogged, one worse than the other. Got them cleaned up a bit and it is now taking fuel excellent and idles good after warming up. It does stumble some at idle when first started but did not do this back last fall because it ran excellent. I let it run for about 10 minutes and it got better each time I started it. I will add some injector cleaner and run it some more. Motor still sounds great (no smoke or knocks), transmission goes into gear and moves forward and back. The brakes are gone. Just a bit of stopping power enough to move it in and out of the garage. Some more good news I have is the radiator looks new, as well as the brake master cylinder. Rear tires are a bit better than I reported and should be good enough to drive for a while. This car really looks great under the hood and I believe it is 100%. Anyone wanting to inspect the car before bidding are welcome but It will have to be Friday (tomorrow) or early Saturday morning and please email me with your number. I am open for all day Friday after 10:00 AM. The car is stored 30 minutes from my location at a rental property that we are trying to sell. The driveway is very long and you will be able to drive the car up and down the drive to check it out. Paint has a few scratches and dull spots because it was stored inside with a one of the blue plastic tarps on it for 6 years. It still would have needed painting anyway. Front and rear bumper covers are good. Too good of a car not to restore and the more road miles it gets the better it will run. Sorry for the under the shade tree photos but it's pretty difficult for an old guy to push it in and out of the garage. Wasn't trying to hide anything. If it had been back enough to get it out of the shade I would have never gotten it back inside. Thanks again for looking and bidding on my old car!!!!
