Vehicle Detail

1969 Porsche 912 Targa LWB 5 Speed Transmission #767 of the 2592 ever made. BEST OFFER! I will try to be as specific as possible, but please let me begin by saying as we ramp up the heat this week here in Southern California, I will be very busy (I run an Air Conditioning Company) but will answer questions as soon as time permits. This car is not a show car by any means, but it also is not a POS. It has been well cared for and hardly driven by me probably 400 miles per month and always garaged and never driven in the rain. I thought about doing a FULL DETAIL and STEAM CLEAN to the ENGINE, but felt better about the fact that “it is what it is” – I don’t want to HYPER MARKET THIS CAR to try making HUGE AMOUNTS of money from it. I know what I paid for it and I know what it’s worth and I know what I want. I have moved on and she just sits in the Garage all the time and I need room for my new Mini Cooper. History: This 912 Targa has always been a California car (the best types to find) It’s owners and time frames are as follows to the best of my knowledge. I might be off a bit but not by much I’m sure. 1969 – 1975 San Francisco 1976 – 1983 Mountain View (this time frame is a good guesstimation but not guaranteed) 1983 – 2001 Santa Clara (Owned by Head of Security for the San Francisco 49’rs) KINDA COOL !! 2001 – 2003 Long Beach 2003 – 2010 Greater Los Angeles California (Me) Body & Paint As you can see by the photos it still looks well even after 7 years, it was painted by a friend of mine who worked at Quality Paint in Baldwin Park California, from what I remember it was 2 stage PPG, it was color sanded and buffed. The paint was sprayed heavy so that one could color sand it again if he so desired, there is plenty of skin there. It does have the standard road rash on the front bumper from road junk, and a couple of dimples that I’ve tried to photograph but they just don’t show, however they are there. I do have the front bumperettes, but they are not photographed and will go with the car as well as a ½ mask bra with white PORSCHE lettering. RUST ISSUES are present, in the right front fender that I have tried to shoot but as you can tell it does not show up. The pan does show some surface rust but nothing has ever eaten through or shown signs of doing so in my inspections. Inside the front boot just below the spare there is also surface rust but not cancer or slow signs of eating away, its all darn good. If you are a SERIOUS BUYER and want photos please contact me. Engine: Full Rebuild 41K+ ago, by Accu-Trak in Manhattan Beach California, as already noted I’ve only put on an average maybe 400 miles a month if that. Runs Strong, cries minimally (tad of an oil drip is what this means) As the photo depicts its still outfitted with the Solex carburetors, which are great. It will ship with the Carb adjustment tool required to tune when the fuel formulation changes during winter and summer. I think I paid $185.00 for this tool. I have always had the oil changed every 3k miles, along with plugs and oil filter. I only run 91 Octane Chevron gas and most of the time run it on the freeway. The engine has LOTS-O-LIFE left. Reciepts for the rebuild are in the file folder and I “might” even have the Visa Charge Card slip. Interior: From what I was told by the P.O. the interior (seats) were done back in 1988 – But the carpet is ORIGINAL!! The Seats are fine, with the exception of the driver’s seat (I drove it one summer with the top off from July to September; the vinyl was sun beat and has cracked here and there thus the T-shirt. The dash is great with no cracks whatsoever, the carpet is good it’s just discolored. Again, the Top was just done recently at the tune of $500.00 bucks both inside and out. The radio is Sony AM/FM/CD player. I do have additional 6x9 enclosures that sit on the rear floor behind the seats for real deep pumping sounds (the 1st Van Halen Album just makes me drool when I crank it) The rear seats do have the seat belts as do the front (you need the back ones , I was pulled over by a cop having a bad day), my boys were belted in the rear – he pulled me over cause “when I had one of these back in the day he said they didn’t have them back then”???? Whatever. Tires – Wheels – Suspension: According to my receipts these where 85K warranted tires and there is only 41K on them so to be safe there is about 50% tread life + or – 10% would be a better guess, the wheels are original and could use a restoration but they still look good. The suspension is all stock and rides great, as all LWB Porsches this sucker handles like a dream and is way too cool to drive! Transmission & Clutch: 5 Speed, shifts wonderful, clutch is great with plenty of life, you want this tranny with 5 speed if you are going to do freeway stuff, dont get stuck in a 4 speed!! Miscellaneous Issues: Needs one door knob (not handle) map pouches are a bit dog eared as the photo shows, again the seat has cracked and needs to be redone. I cant find the whole complete Klein tool kit but from what I can remember most of it is there. The fog covers (in case you choose to remove the fogs) Will also ship with the car In conclusion: I have another garage at my father’s house, thankfully I really am not pressed to sell her, but if I get the right offer I may do so. What’s my point? I am not hurting for money, I don’t need to gather up cash for an emergency, I have 2 -2010 cars I just bought and would have never done so If I could not afford them, so please refrain from backdoor offers (like someone already has made) that are nowhere near what anybody would ever consider selling their 912 for. Shipping can be arranged and buyer must contact me before close of auction to discuss the details. A 1000.00 Deposit VIA PAYPAL must be paid within 24 hours of the close of the auction. IF buy does not follow through entire process, the $1000.00 will not be returned. Respectfully Bogner100B75Mr
