Vehicle Detail

To begin, there is a BUY IT NOW price on this RARE car that may or may not appear on the main screen. The price will be good for the entire sale up until the last 12 hours, after which eBay will not allow me to end the auction. To be fair, you should know that ALMOST ALL of my cars sell with the BUY IT NOW option so don't wait until the last minute to bid as it may not be available by then. The BUY IT NOW on this car is $24,000.00 and that INCLUDES free delivery to anywhere in the continental USA. I will also discount that price by $1000.00 if you want to come and pick it up. Sorry but I cannot include Alaska and Hawaii in free delivery. I may be able to include some parts of lower Canada. Please see details below on delivery. If you want to use the BUY IT NOW feature, all you have to do is contact me (call 270-577-1821) and we can work it out and I will end the auction. Please understand that the free delivery is ONLY with the Buy It Now option. If you make an offer of less, and I accept it, you will not qualify for the delivery unless we have agreed to it in advance of the end of the sale. I want to restate that about 90% of the vehicles I list sell before the end of the auction. If you want it, call me. Don't be upset if you try to wait it out and it's gone! Now let's get to the details on the car! As an offer of extra security to distant bidders, I want to make it plain that we are not in the business of misrepresenting our cars like some folks do. I try to list every single thing that there is to know about the car. I am human and can miss something but I do personally inspect, drive and check-out each and every car that I put on eBay. If there is ANY problem that I can find, it will be listed. It will also be address, when possible. If you buy the car and make the required deposit, when you come to get the car, if there is an issue that I was not aware of, you will have the option to walk away and get every cent of your deposit back. Now we cannot be responsible for your transportation cost but we are not EVER going to keep a deposit if the car is not right. This does not cover items that are mentioned in the description or that should be plainly visible or for silly things like you or your spouse do not like the paint color or the way the seats "feel". But it is intended for items that may have been missed that have a serious impact on the car's value or function. We will do our best to correct anything that we did not notice or we will refund the deposit. If you are having the car delivered, different circumstances apply but that is covered below. How many times have you, like me, sat and watched the latest Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction and said to yourself, Man! I wish I could have one of those cars! Well, here is your chance! This car could be at a B/J auction at anytime as it is just a super nice car. I was at Barrett-Jackson in Palm Beach a few weeks ago and there were numerous cars that were not as nice as this one. You can own an incredible antique rod for a fraction of what it costs to build one and your friends will never be able to top it! This auction is for a nice 1937 Nash LaFayette with an ultra-reliable Chevrolet 350 small block engine and a NEW 3 speed automatic transmission and COLD VINTAGE AC!!. This beautiful car only has 10,200 actual miles since restoration! It has been completely restored and is a very nice example of the model. It could win numerous awards across the country at regional shows and is ready to be shown in your area. This car has driven the country to shows and on tours, including many Florida and Arizona shows. It is scheduled to be at the Frog Follies in Evansville, IN next month as a featured car and will have an asking price of $30,000. at that show. Buy it now and save a fortune! The known details of the modifications and history are listed below The exterior of this classic is actually much better than new. It is a blazingly bright red and silver and the paint and body are in excellent condition. There are a couple of very tiny spots that are listed below but they are slight!. There is absolutely no damage anywhere on the entire car. The paint is great with a very high gloss and no problems. NO dents, nicks, major paint issues, dull spots, runs, overspray or other issues. This was a professional restoration. There is no evidence of ever having previous damage. It is the V8 sedan model and the car has all beautiful body lines of the 30s and 40s that custom rodders LOVE. The cool grill and headligts are in perfect shape. Please note the torpedo style parking lights under the headlights. The car has large molded running boards that look incredible and match the lines of the car as if they poured from the factory. The car also has new rubber seals throughout. The door, hood and trunk jambs are in good shape and I have extra photos of them, if you need them. It has the awesome baggage trunk which I believe was called a bellsman's hatch and it too is in perfect shape. It has plenty of trunk room and yes, it does lock properly. The floors are great and the trunk bottom is perfect. I also have photos of those. I can only put 24 pics on eBay so if you want more, I will have to send them to you. The car has excellent condition custom American Racing wheels with brand new BF Goodrich black letter tires, both of which give it a great look. I have found absolutely no issues with the car at all except for a very small crack in the glass on the driver's door. It is so small that I missed it until I saw it in a reflection. It can only be seen from inside the car and not at all on the outside. It is on the back side of the glass and is about an inch long. Again, you cannot see it unless you get it in the glare of the sun. I did drive it extensively to see how it was before listing it. It was great! Started easily, ran strong and handled wonderfully. I want to emphasis that this car is NOT some hack job like you sometimes find on here. This is about as nice a custom restoration that you will find unless you spend $75,00.00 on the car and having it done. The paint is totally clean and well done, Body seams are nice, body gaps are better than they were from the factory, paint is much better than factory as is the interior. The front fenders are very heavy fiberglass and the rears are metal. Again, I have many photos that I can send and will take others if you need them. Please also note the top-mounted exterior mirrors which can be removed without any holes as they are pressure screw mounted so no damage was done to the body in appling them! And the original two panel hood opens up on each side as it should and latches down tight. There is no alignment issues with the hood and neither section bangs into the fender when you open or close it. It was just done right. On to the interior. This one has the totally cool gray tweed cloth interior that is absolutely perfect! We have had more than 100 classics and antiques in the last couple of years and each has been different. This one seems to match the exterior of the car wonderfully. Most people just go with the plain black vinyl but these folks did it right! The main sections of the seats are gray tweed and the other sections are contrasting cloth, as seen in the photos. The original metal dash is great with no wear, dents or damage. It has perfect shape and has not bent like so many of them get over the years. One of the coolest things on this car is the glovebox door. It has the original speaker holder built into it and it remains unmolested and in perfect shape! There is no speaker behind it right now but you could add one if you wanted. That same glovebox box also has a working key lock and the key matches the truck lock!! Also on the dash, please notice that the AC vents were added below the original dash with use of metal and it looks like it came from the factory that way! The car has ICE COLD Vintage brand AC components and the AC will freeze you out on the highway. Very high volume air fan is placed in the AC system and it really blows hard. This car has a short lenght console with the column shifter, as seen in the photos. The gray carpet is an original style and is in great shape. Some of the photos may show the carpet to appear faded but that is not the case. It is just the camera flash glaring. The carpet is in new condition and perfectly colored. The car also has nice black floor mats. Correct manual windows and locks. They all work, as well, yes, even the back quarter windows roll down! The car has an added aftermarket AM/FM/CD unit in the dash. It is a removeable face unit and the face was off for the photos. We do have the face. The door panels are also in brand new conditon which match the seats and are also in the photos. The interior is in GREAT condition. The headliner is also in new condition and also matches the door panels and seats. There are added gauges below the dash so that you can monitor all of the engines activities. But they are installed in a way that you can remove them with no major issues at all with this car's interior. It is exceptionally comfortable inside. The interior on this car is one of the things that makes it special. It is a beautiful design with comfortable seats and a great appearance. The seatbelt receiver connections are on the floor and made into the seat set-up. However, there are no belts as the builder did not add them. I am not saying they are missing, it is just that this car in 1937 was not made with seatbelts and the fellow that built the car left the floor mounts there when he added the new seats but did not put in the belt sections. This could be easily added if you wanted but is not required in any state due to the age of the car. Before getting into the mechanics, I do want to add that when I drove this car, I was STUNNED at how well it ran and handled. This car runs, idles, drives and feels like a modern car with fuel injection. You can not tell that this is a carburated car in any way. It is so smooth when running you sometimes wonder if it is still running at all. If it were not for being able to hear the exhaust, I would have sworn that the car had died. It is just that smooth. Even with the ultra-cool vintage AC on, the car just purrs! There is NO hesitation on take-off, no sputtering or dead spots on the timing or acceleration. I don't mean to beat it into the ground but I want to make sure I get the point across as to how well this car runs. I have driven a 1000 vintage cars and this one runs better than every single one of them without exception! It handled like a 2010 Cadillac rather than a restored 1937 Nash. The car is smooth and quiet on the highway and a real joy to drive. I also have to add the I sometimes have difficulty getting in and out of some of these antique and vintage cars due to the custom doors and entries. Not on this one. One twist in the seat and you enter and exit with ease. It was a very pleasant surprise, to say the least. The seats go back plenty far to be comfortable for even tall folks and it even has tilt steering to make it's use even more comfortable! And now for the mechanics. Ths car has enough power to impress all of your friends! It a rebuilt 350 Chevrolet small block with modifications and it is connected to a 400 turbo 3 speed automatic transmission with a shift kit. The transmission was just professional rebuilt at out expense and is under warranty. Both the engine and the trans operate well. The engine and engine compartment are restored to the same quality as the rest of the car. It has a functioning cowl vent opening for the cooling the inside of the car in the old days before AC. It has manifold style headers that lead to a full lenght dual exhaust with chrome tips. There is a great sounding rumble to it. It is not too loud but gets the proper attention. Again, I have numerous other photos. The car has added power steering, power brakes and an Edlebrock carb. The engine runs cool, has nice oil pressure and no internal noise. The trans shifts well and grabs as it should. The car is equipped with Vintage brand aftermarket air conditioning and it is done so well that it looks like the car came with AC! When I opened the hood and saw the new AC unit, my first thought was that someone had just put a new AC compressor on it. But then when looking at the original climate control inside the car, I realized that it was never made with AC back in '37. Duh. I then checked and saw that the AC was a Vintage brand and knew that it had been added. They correctly relocated the alternator and it looks perfect and functions just as well. The car also has front disc brakes and the rears are drums. Rear end is a Chevrolet also but I cannot tell you the gear ratio. It is a nice suitable cruising gear, however. Again, this car only has 10,200 actual miles since being restored. The engine runs like it is brand new and of course. there are no leaks or problems of any kind. The car is beautiful and ready for you to enjoy as a showpiece or investment! __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Questions and answers: Let me cover a few questions that I am sure I will get 100 times while this auction is running. Also, please check the eBay question and answer section below the photos to see if your question has already been covered. * Will you trade for my ................. (fill in the blank)? You are welcome to e-mail what you have but a few things to keep in mind. I am a dealer. I am not going to trade you even unless you are offering something that is beyond belief. We are likely well away from where you are. If you have something to offer, it will have to be seen in person and that makes it difficult. I will need detailed photos just to give it thought. I am not interested in snowmobiles, jetskis, john boats, bass boats, ex-wives (or current ones!), or ANY type of project vehicle. I will consider items such as sports cars. large boats or items that are sellable quickly. I do not have time or the ability to deal with anything that I will have to put much effort into. * Does this car have airbags and seatbelts? No to seatbelts and no to airbags. It has no belts and is not required to in any state. due to the age of the car. As mentioned above, it does have belt bases in the front but no actual belts. You could add them for less than $100.00 if you wanted. * Will this car pass emissions in my state? I have no idea. I am in Kentucky and we have no emissions testing here. I have no way to test it for any state and I have no idea what your state requires. Some states make exceptions for antiques. It is 100% up to you to check on these items for yourself. If you buy the car, you buy the car. It will be your responsibilty to make it meet whatever requirements your state has. There may be no changes that need to be made since it is an antique but keep in mind that you will not be allowed to back out of the sale should you not put any effort into finding out BEFORE you bid. Please refer to the last paragraph that covers non-payment. I don't mean to sound like a jerk here but the last time I failed to mention this I had an idiot in California complaining that their 1978 VW Beetle convertible did not have a catalytic converter on it! They were not made with converters in 1978 and there is NOTHING I can do about it. * Will you ship internationally? Yes, I will but it is your responsibility to find out the costs. I am happy to help make the arrangements and have shipped numerous cars internationally. If you use the Buy It Now, or pay extra for me to do it, I will get it to a shipping port. Please understand that a price a shipper gives you is from a port city. We are not on the ocean and the car will have to be transported to the port. That will be extra. I WILL NOT accept money orders, cashier's checks or any other check for international shipping. Payment will be made by a bank wire transfer and by no other means, except in some cases with Canada. I WILL NOT accept anything but the deposit through Paypal as their fees are too high to process large amounts through. * Will this be a good car for my teenaged son/daughter? They really like it and want me to buy it for them. This simplest answer to this is that you would be an idiot to buy a car like this for a teenaged driver. Not only is it too expensive to put a young person in, it is WAY to powerful and would just be plain silly. This is a antique vehicle and young people need to be only passengers in it. They DO NOT have the experience required to control this car, and yes, that includes your child. I don't mean to sound like an ass but I am stunned at the number of adults who write or call me when I run a car like this and want to put a teenager in. Young drivers have no idea what is involved in caring for a car like this nor the amount of money needed to keep it nice. Parents should use their heads and put junior in a Honda or Toyota and leave cars like this to experienced owners and drivers. Again, DO NOT buy this car for a young person! The car is up to par but, to be direct, your teenager is NOT! * Do you have any documentation on this car? Some. Remember that the car has been owned by a collector for years. Some cars we have lots of paperwork on, some very little. I do not know what we have on each and every car as we have more than 600 but whatever paperwork the builder/owner provided us, you are welcome to it. I have numerous photos of the underside of this car and many of other sections. I will be more than happy to send them to you but you will have to send me your direct e-mail address. I cannot send photos through the eBay mail system as they will not allow it. Below covers delivery and shipping options as well as ways to contact me directly should you want to discuss anything at all. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A little about us. We are a mid-sized dealership in Western Kentucky that specializes in only sports and luxury cars and specialty trucks. We don't sell minivans and station wagons. We have indoor storage for Porsches, Corvettes, Lotus, Ferrari, ect. We sell only top of the line cars and never list one on eBay that we know has a problem. As with all things mechanical, things break down and we will always do anything within reason to assist after the sale. This does not imply that we provide a lifetime warranty on your car! All cars are sold as is unless I specifically say there is a factory warranty on them. Should you have a problem any time in the future, even 10 years from now, we will do all we can to help. We will get you parts at dealer cost, recommend trustworthy mechanics, locate used parts, ect. for as long as you own the car. Just let us know what you need. You are strongly encouraged to come and see the car in person. We will be glad to have you come in and take the car out to lunch or dinner. As long as you are a serious buyer, we'll pay for a nice meal and you can go and enjoy the car. ( This offer does not apply to teenaged buyers without a parent present. We reserve the right to verify anyone's ID and their ability to buy prior to letting them run off with a free car. Hope you can understand. I also have to mention, based on a recent incident, that the dinner offer does not apply to you and 20 relatives! I now have to limit it to you and a spouse or mate. Always has to be some idiot to ruin a good thing. ) Come play with it. Make sure the car is as we say. Make sure you fit the car and the car fits you. Take it to a mechanic and have it looked at. Do anything within reason to make sure it is the car you expect! As for the free delivery mentioned above. The details are simple. If you use the Buy It Now, I will deliver the car or truck anywhere in the mainland US for free. I may be able to include lower Canada but you must check with me on that first. There are rules that apply to importing into Canada and all taxes and tariffs will be the buyer's responsibility. If I am delivering, I solely reserve the right to decide on how the vehicle gets to your location. I may have it shipped by professional car delivery service, I may delivery on my personal trailer or I may drive the car to you and fly back home. Driving it to you likely won't happen with a classic car. I will usually trailer it or ship it. If I drive one this will, of course, add a few miles but that can't be helped. Since I am paying for it, I have to consider distance, expense, time I have on hand, ect. Payment must be made IN FULL before the vehicle will leave our location. No exceptions will be made, not even to dealers! An important factor that you need to know. As with any auto dealer, most cars are purchased on what is called a "floor plan". This is a line of credit that the dealer uses to buy the cars he sells. The creditor holds the title on the vehicle until it is paid for. This car is no different. When you buy it, we will send the payment to the creditor and they will send us the title, usually within a couple of days. We will then send it overnight to you. We will happily provide you a 60 day temp tag at no cost to make sure you can enjoy your car until the title arrives and you can license it. This will not be an issue if we are delivering the car. If that is the case, I will most likely have the title with me at that time, under normal circumstances. Bidding and payment terms are pretty simple as well. DO NOT bid of you have no money! These auctions are expensive and I will not allow zero or low feedback bidders to bid. If you do, I will cancel the bid and block you from bidding again. Negitive feedback is the same as zero feedback as far as I'm concerned. If you are not new to eBay but have no feedback and feel you should be allowed to bid, contact me and we'll work something out. My cell is 270-577-1821. Don't wait until the last minute to do this as it will be too late. As for payment, I expect a $300.00 deposit via Paypal within 48 hours. The remaining amount should be paid within no more than 7 days. I accept any reasonable form of payment but checks must clear before the car will leave here. If you are picking it up, don't expect to show-up on Saturday or Sunday and write a check and leave with the car. Best bet for a weekend pick-up is cash or mail the check in advance so it will clear before you arrive. We will be happy to store the car indoors after payment for as long as needed, within reason, until you can come and get it. If the Buy It Now is not used, I may be willing to deliver the car for a fee but we will need to discuss that in advance. I always welcome deliveries to Florida as I can always use more vacation time! Where we are: Henderson, KY is in Western KY which is close enough to several major cities that you can fly into them. We are about 150 miles from Nashville, TN; 120 miles from Louisville, KY; 180 miles from both Indianapolis, IN and St. Louis, MO. The closest airport is a regional in Evansville, IN. We can make arrangements to pick you up free in Evansville and Louisville, KY. For any of the other airports, we can get you but we'll have to have some help on travel expenses from the buyer. You are more than welcome to call me at any time to ask any question. My cell is 270-577-1821. I can also assist in finding any decent sports or luxury car that you may desire and can get them at less than what you will find them for elsewhere. We thank you for looking and wish you the best of luck in the bidding! Please see our other auctions for more Jaguars, Porsches, ect. as time permits and the weather gets warmer. I absolutely HATE to have to add this paragraph to my auctions but due to recent events, I feel I have no choice. I have lost more than $1000.00 in eBay fees just this month due to non-paying bidders and I'm sick of it! This is not a game. I am an auto dealer and a lot of people rely on these auctions to make their living, to pay their bills and to feed their families. Not only my auctions, but lots of auctions on eBay. When I list a car, it automatically costs me $187.90. When it sells, I send it to get ready for the buyer to pick-up, By the time it's ready to go, I will have spent $300.00 on it. If the buyer does not pay, I have to spend another $187.90 to relist it. This is in addition to the money I have already spent on it. So when one sells and the buyer does not pay, I will have about $700.00 tied up in it. I am no longer going to tolerate non-payment. Understand plainly that if you win and do not pay, I will expect and demand that you will pay the full amount of the expenses that I incur in fees. Not the auto prep fees but the eBay fees. If you do not pay immediately, I WILL file suit on the matter for the full amount of the vehicle, all eBay fees, court cost and attorney's fees. I have not lost a single case in dealing with these issues. I also report to the credit bureau. Cases will be filed in Henderson County, Kentucky which will require that you travel to KY for court. Should you fail to appear, KY law (KRS 514.040) says that I will win by default. I will utilize all options to collect the amounts owed including liens on property and payroll attachments. No excuse will be tolerated. If you make a mistake, do what's right and correct it. If your mistake costs someone money, it is your moral and legal responsibility to pay to correct it. If you don't, then it is my responsibility to protect my business, my employees and my family and collect what is owed me. I fully intend to do so. I don't want to be a jerk and this will not be an issue if everyone plays be the rules and does what they are supposed to! A note to parents: You are responsible for your children's actions. Should you fail to supervise your child and he or she wins an auction, expect that you and that child will be dealt with in the above manner as well, if you don't take care of the expenses that the child causes. Do what's right and avoid all this!! On Jul-12-10 at 22:09:36 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that the dash has an oak insert where the gauges sit and a full gauge package. Each gauge works as it should, including the fuel gauge. The gauges have correct backlit lights for night driving, there is a working cigerette light for cell phone charging (or cigerettes, if you are silly enough to smoke in this car), switches for the working windshield wipers and floor lights. All of the electronics work as they should. Every single one! I also should address the high volume radiator that is serviced by two electric fans to keep your rod cool and make sure the AC stays cold. There is also plenty of chrome on the engine, as you can see in the photos.
