Vehicle Detail
One last re-list for my sweet '71 Chevy truck. I've reduced my asking price; I know the economy sucks for most of us but I also know this is a great truck and now at an even better price. Thanks for looking! I've owned this truck for the last 3 years and have put a lot of time, labor and money into her. She's fun to drive and always gets looks and compliments wherever I go. Check out what I've done and what's left: '92 Caprice TBI 350 billet aluminum valve covers, PCV valve, breather and air cleaner long-tube headers custom-burned prom re-worked factory Caprice wiring harness dual exhaust '92 C1500 700-R4 mild shift kit B&M floor shifter Summit Racing universal 2 1/2" 2-core aluminum radiator Summit Racing dual electric fan relays dual 12" fans AutoMeter complete gauge package (electronic speedo, tach, coolant, oil press, fuel and voltmeter) Rhino Linings spray-in bedliner New headliner New billet aluminum and leather steering wheel Complete a/c system (needs a couple adapters and some refrigerant) 9C1 rally wheels from a '91 Caprice + stainless steel beauty rings Did I mention this is a fuel injected, overdrive truck with a/c and an aluminum radiator? I've got a never-used Blazer tank ready to install (I briefly had it in my 3/4 T 4x4 '71 but never plumbed it) and some other small parts (new window crank, polyurethane body mounts...). The electric sending units for the oil pressure and fuel both need to be wired into the new gauges and the Autometer electronic speedo needs to be hooked up to the VSS and ECM and calibrated but the other 99% of the re-wiring is complete. I've got way more pics that can all be seen on my Picasa page. Some are just after I got the truck and all the later ones are the most current. I still have the factory AM radio; I just removed it to make wiring the gauges easier. I can also throw in for free a 3-4 year old Sony single-DIN CD deck but it would mean cutting the dash. It's up to you, the buyer. Some of the questions from the previous auctions: Any rust in the cab? Not really. The cab corners appear in great shape and there's one small patch panel in the floorpan that's less-than-professional but the cab's solid. The front and rear cab supports on both sides, though, are totally rotten and need to be replaced. $60 in sheet metal and some POR-15 or equivalent and you're all set. What kind of mileage do you get? Since the speedo still needs to be hooked up, I can't give an exact number but the Caprice got 16+mpg around town and this truck is lighter so that's my guess--14 to 16 mpg. I didn't get the chance to drive it on the freeway much so it's anybody's guess how well it does but I wouldn't be surprised if it got up near 20 mpg. It's a fairly mild motor with a pretty light truck, relatively speaking. Is the engine and/or transmission rebuilt? No, I bought the Caprice running and simply pulled the powertrain and installed. Due to a SNAFU with a used replacement radiator I got strawberry milkshake contamination in the Caprice tranny--thus the tranny from a '92 2wd truck and aluminum radiator! The tranny got a mild shift kit and the tranny shop replaced the band around the 2-4 drum but that's all I've done to it; no other clutches or hard parts have been replaced. It seemed to shift fine in around-town driving before I left. I did take the opportunity, though, while the tranny was out, to replace the rear main seal with a silicon-type one-piece seal and a new Fel-pro one-piece pan gasket. That was literally a day or 2 before I left, though, so I don't know if I got them installed properly (i.e. no leaks!) I'm crossing my fingers that that's a job you won't have to do before an engine rebuild is due! I can still probably arrange delivery along the I-15 corridor from SoCal to Salt Lake for a mileage fee. Otherwise, you'll need to make your own shipping arrangements.Trying to make this as easy as i can for you. If you still have questions, feel free to ask; I'm usually very prompt to answer them.
