Vehicle Detail

This a beautifully restored, matching numbers 71 Triumph GT6. I picked up this car in 2004 for a project that my son & I could work on for his Senior year in High School. I am Diesel Mechanic by trade and run a large heavy equip. & auto shop. So I tinker with cars as a hobby and have restored a 68 GTO for my other son and was going to do this one, but ended up finding a 64 Pontiac Tempest that we restored instead of the Triumph. Anyway this one sat in storage until this winter before I started working on it again. It had been pretty negleted and needed quite a bit of body and interior work. I had been told that the first owner of the car had been hit in the front right corner and right side while pulling out of a parking lot.The front end had been banged up alittle and the passenger side had some small dents. I welded in a new lower right hood panel and welded in a couple of other patch panels on the hood. I pulled out all of the other small dings in the rest of the car. It has some bondo on it to smooth it all out. There is no rust on this car and all of the work done is very solid. It only has 41,231 original miles on it and so the doors shut solid and sound tight. The paint is a beautiful Toredor red with some pearl and metallic. It is a base coat clear coat over primer and sealer system. There are 2 slight droops in the clear that are practically undetectable and are not worth messes with for fear of sanding into the base coat. This not a perfect high end paint job but it is very beautiful and makes everyone when they see it comment on how great it really looks. The interior has been completely replaced. New carpet kit, head liner, door panels & seats reupolstered. The engine ran good when I got it, so I've only gone thru thru the carbs, plugs, wires and replaced all of the hoses and valve cover gasket. the mechanical fuel pump had been replaced with an electric one. I replaced the steering boots and the front brake pads. It also has a new battery, battery box, choke cables, windshield washer fluid tank and overflow tank. I noticed that the rear seal on the tranny leaks alittle. I picked up a good used front bumper and bumper guards for it. There is a small hole in the one bumper guard that I showed in the pictures. Both bumpers could be rechromed but I didn't go to that extent. This is the kind of car you can enjoy driving around and put in a car show if you like, and not be afraid to do either. I'm selling it because my my kids are gone and the wife and I would like to build a roadster. I do not have the original keys for it and so when I got it I had to put in an ignition switch, so I don't have keys to the door locks. On Jul-12-10 at 21:57:54 PDT, seller added the following information:Just a note to those bidding on this car. I have set a very low reserve price for the quality of this restoration.
