THIS IS NOT A KIT CAR. THIS IS A REPRODUCTION OF A 1961 CALIFORNIA SPYDER. Built by Modena Design and Research in El Cajon California this car is considered rarer than the original car from the Roaring 1960's. The car is titled as a Modena and not Special Construction or Kit car. This car was made famous by the 1986 classic movie "Ferris Buellers Day Off". Unable to provide an original car due to cost and limited production several of the cars built for this movie were built on donor cars. As there are various scenes using the car there were a handful made for this production. When Modena built the car they built various ones with different options on their own chassis and used NO DONOR CARS. These cars are rarely seen for sale and obviously the best of the best is of course Ferrari Red. It will be unlikely to find such a model with less than 5500 miles on the frame and engine. The Modena company built these cars as close as they could to the original car. At a cost significantly lower than the original , Modena were able to combine these unique looks of the car with the performance and maintenance of an everyday engine. This car can be driven as a daily car.When Modena built these cars the car came with a interior surrounded by Smith and VDO gauges which the original 1961 Ferrari car did not have. As we have used this car for mostly display purposes only, we have changed many of the items to reflect the original car. We believe our car is the only car in the world closest to the original. Some of these rare cars have sold for over USD 80000.00 without he upgrades we have added.
