Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1974 VW Super Beetle Convertible. I bought this from the original owner back in 1993, drove it for a few years while in college, then put it into storage. I put it away because after driving through a puddle, water came pouring in through the floor. It has not been driven in over 15 years. I removed the battery before putting it into storage, so I haven't tested anything out. There is a lot of corrosion on the undercarriage, including where the body panels meet the frame. I've learned this likely cannot be salvaged to be driven as it is, so essentially, consider this to be a parts or project car. In it's current state, the vehicle does not run. The battery has been removed to prevent leakage during storage, along with disconnecting the fuel line at the gas tank. The engine does not yet turnover, but did run when put into storage 15 years ago. I make no claims as to the engine's condition, other than it will take plenty of work by the buyer to get it running again. The headliner is drooping, it has detached from the convertible top itself, you can see this in the photos. The top itself has no holes or tears, nor does the headliner. The black convertible boot is the original, but had a silver-dollar sized hole in it when I bought it, so I had my grandmother sew on a Grateful Dead dancing bears patch to cover it. The seats are in decent shape as is the rest of the interior. There are no cracks in the dash. The original radio is present as well. I will also include an extra set of wheels. None of the tires hold air on the car, nor the extra set, so don't count on them being usable. Most have dry rot. This vehicle is being sold as-is. This is a final-sale auction, the high bidder will need to pay a 50% deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of auction closing. Buyer responsible for arranging pickup and shipment of this vehicle.
