Vehicle Detail

This is a true GARAGE FIND. The second owner bought it and stored it in a climate-controlled garage for 24 years (since 1986), with mileage documentation. It has an actual 52,638 miles. It was driven only in the summer weather and undercoated to prevent corrosion (see window sticker in photos and pictures of underneath the car). In other words, it is cancer free and in amazing original condition. This vehicle is so preserved that all work on it can be performed directly by the guidance of the repair manual. Nothing has been altered by some misguided individual who wanted to turn it into a "rat rod," whatever that is. The Cadillac Eldorado is America's grandest example of luxury automotive excellence before design was determined by a wind tunnel and fuel economy concerns. When I drive it down the road I feel like an ambassador from another era when the world was good and America was the center of the automotive universe. This car makes people remember and smile. It draws a crowd wherever one stops. Neither is this some groaning, creaking behemoth that cries out "Antiquated!" as it labors down the road. It moves with the confidence of a very healthy 500 cubic inch motor that has a distinctive exhaust note which communicates its agility (the exhaust is factory). Furthermore, I will put this car up against any vehicle on the planet in a contest for most luxurious ride. At 6,600 lbs. and twenty something feet one floats down the road as though they are driving a plush sofa. Mechanically this car gets an A plus. Everything works on the car except for one of the two vanity mirror lights and the clock. All of the door lights, under the dash lights and the courtesy lights works as they should. The lights under the door handles, the light on the outside driver mirror thermometer, the trunk light, the turn signal indicators, the turn signals, head lights, tail lights, etc. all work as well. The cruise control works, the radio with all of the search features works, the climate control and air conditioning works (A/C has not been converted), the power top works, the power antenna works, the dim and twilight sensors work, the wiper washer works, the power trunk opens and closes as it should, all of the cigarette lighters work, the power door locks work, the lock on the driver's door for the power windows works, both the passenger and driver's side remote mirror adjustment works, the six way power seats, both driver and passenger, work, and even the rear window defogger (yes, it has the original glass rear window) works. Neither was all of this repaired to get it ready for sale...it just works! The glass on this car is perfect. Having been kept out of wet weather the windshield doesn't even have a hint of windshield wiper tracks. All of the other windows are perfect as well with no delamination or discoloration. The paint on this car is original, except for some touch ups, and it still has a high gloss. It is still in the original color of cotillion white and has the most popular interior/exterior colors from that year. The exterior chrome is exceptional in that it is without pitting except for less than ten beginner dots on the back side of the passenger door mirror and a few dots around the turn signal on the lower portion of the front bumper. Unless someone was wanting a concourse vehicle I wouldn't even mess with it because no one but those with a very sharp and discerning eye are even going to see it. You can see from the photos the luster of the chrome. The weather stripping EVERYWHERE in this car is unbelievable. No where is it crumbling or coming off. It is still soft and does its appointed job of sealing the car. In other words, one doesn't have to bail water out of the trunk after they wash the car. Speaking of the trunk, I pulled up the liner and cardboard and it shows bright, clean cotillion white paint underneath. No evidence of weather, rust, etc. Oh, on the passenger side door there is a chip out of the weather stripping that runs along the top side of the door against the window. It measures approx. 3/4" long by 1/4" deep. The interior on this car is the nicest I have ever seen on a 35 year old, unrestored vehicle. The leather is supple and without cracks, tears, or loose threads...anywhere. The dash looks like it is new. One could take the steering wheel off, put it in an OEM box and sell it for brand new. This is not exaggeration. The trunk looks like it is new. It has the ORIGINAL SPACE SAVER Collapsible spare tire with the ORIGINAL GM OXYGEN (?) bottle for filling it and the bottle still has its charge. I have read perhaps 100 ads for these cars and have never seen one advertised with the collapsible spare and charge bottle. This is just a further testament of how this car seems to have been placed in a time capsule of sorts. Furthermore, the jack had never even been on the ground until a couple of weeks back when I used it (what was I thinking???). What is new on the car are the radial tires (less than 50 miles), the insulation under the front hood (somehow a chunk had been torn out of the original and so I replaced it), it has all new plugs and plug wires, a new alternator, and new battery. The exhaust, starter, belts, and select hoses are 'newer.' The top is original as well and it is without any rips, tears, etc., and doesn't leak on wash day. The vinyl isn't discolored or cracking up and the only evidences of age are cracks in the trim along the edge where the top makes the most extreme folds. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it an 8. Again, this top looks exceptionally nice and no one would ever suggest replacing it. I find it somewhat curious how people will go pay upwards of 50k for a car with "bling" and lose ten or more thousand when they drive it off of the lot. Furthermore, when one of these misguided souls pulls up to the same stop light with me no one is looking at his high end piece of plastic. They're looking at the gorgeous Eldorado convertible. the car that cost about a third of what they shelled out and will only increase in value. They would be SICK if they knew that collector car insurance costs about $150.00 per year for FULL COVERAGE. That is not a typo. The insurance industry knows how carefully we drive these cars and their policy prices reflect that care. If these two arguments don't convince your wife then I suggest you trade her in... Please do not bid on this car unless you intend to buy it and have the money available to do so. There is NO RESERVE on this vehicle. I require a non-refundable deposit of one thousand dollars within 24 hours after the close of the auction and the remainder is to be paid by money order or cashiers check. Remember that you are entering into a legally binding contract when you bid. If you would like to examine the car before you bid I will do more than make it available. I will drive it down to the garage of your choice and they can go over it with a tooth and comb, but you pay the bill. This is much cheaper than an air line ticket. I will print up this ad and take it with me to the garage and they can verify for you that I have been honest in my description of the car. However, after one person has done so I won't be driving it all around town but I will post contact information for the garage and person who did the inspection. I value your positive feed back and expect you to leave it after you have taken possession of the vehicle. If you have any questions feel free to call me at (719) 650-8911. I'll go start the motor, slam some doors, play the radio or whatever. This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if the car is sold.
