Vehicle Detail

This Cadillac is a very original, very complete car. From what I can tell, nearly everything on this car is as it was the day Cadillac made it, just aged 46 years. The pictures tell the story about this car. It was mostly kept under cover by the previous owner, however that cover was about 5 feet too short for the massive Caddy. As a result, the body and paint from the windshield back are in decent shape, but the fenders and hood have some rust. Luckily, the rust is only skin deep; the frame, floors, and the rest of the undercarriage are extremely solid, from bumper to bumper. Again, you can see this in the pictures. Since these cars were built body-on-frame in 1964, it’s a simple matter to fit replacement fenders and hood. Or you could leave it as-is and drive it as rat. The chrome is presentable, and all there. There is a small dent on the passenger side rear flank, near the taillight. The rest of the car is straight and true. The engine, transmission, and the rest of the driveline work as intended. The engine starts right up, with a slight ticking noise that seems to be exhaust related. That engine is the factory 429 cubic inch big block, which moves this big car down the road with authority! The transmission shifts as it should, and there are no noises from the driveshaft or rear end. The brakes do work, but are weak and will require some attention. The radiator has a pinhole that leaks only when the engine is warm- it could be patched, the whole radiator shouldn’t need replacing. The tires have a good bit of tread left on them, and aren’t cracked or dry rotted. As you can see from this short video, the car is fully driveable: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sHpsSemOXs Moving on to the interior, the light blue cloth and leather is worn on the driver’s seat, and on the top of the back seat. The door panels and carpet are not bad though (I have the original floor mats, which are included with the car), and the dash is all there, although the dash cover is cracked. The headliner and sunvisors are near perfect. The windshield is cracked, but the rest of the glass is in fine shape. The gauges mostly work- the speedometer and fuel gauge work; the temperature gauge works intermittently. The clock does not work. The original AM radio is in place. The automatic climate control is non-functional. All lenses are good, and the lights work, though I have not tried any of the automatic light features. 3 of the four power windows roll down and up, as you can see in the pictures. Overall, this is a cool old car that will make someone a very nice cruiser with a little work. I hope it finds a good home. I can help the buyer with pickup, and even deliver the car for a reasonable fee. I do not have the title, but the last SC registration is in the glove box and the buyer should be able to obtain a title with that. Any questions, please email me, or you may call my cell phone at (eight-six-four) 293 – 2901. I require a $200 deposit within 48 hours of auction close. If the buyer desires, they may also pay the balance using Paypal though they will be required to pay the Paypal fees as well. In-person inspection is invited and encouraged.
