Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is an used Titan red,1987 VW Vanagon GL. This van was purchased by me back in 2006 used by an owner that advertised it on the SAMBA classifieds. The previous owner has had lots of work done to the van with receipts, before I did lots of work and part replacement to the van. There is a current 4/11 PA inspection and it still runs fine. The interior is tan and the rear seats still look fairly good. The driver's seat has a few holes in fabric and both driver's and passenger front seats has flattened from years of wear. The dashboard is brown and has no cracks or bad discoloration. The ceiling trim has no damage, but shows some yellowing from age. The carpeting is dirty, worn and torn and should probably be replaced. Driver's side and Passenger side power windows still work, but operate slowly and may need new regulators. One power window switch on driver's door is missing for passenger window. The rear, trunk lid mattress is a little dirty, but still in good condition. this van comes with a working Jenson CD-4610 CD player, stereo with aux AV connections integrated into the dash with 4 speakers (Pioneer brand in the rear). The exterior paint has some clear coat chipping on roof and rusting around driver's side door, rear wheel panel and sliding door frame. There is custom paint work done on the body from years ago with some scratches and wear, but it still looks fine enough to get stares. The exhaust was replaced 3 years ago, the fuel pump and fuel filter, the radiator rear coolant hoses and the automatic transmission filter and seal were changed and cooling lines were converted recently. Transmission runs great, no problems. The rear bumper is damaged and will need to replaced. The exhaust has rusted badly and will need to be replaced again. The rear shocks, rear hatch dampeners, catalytic converter and oxygen sensor has been replaced 2-3 years ago (check out my eBay history to see what was purchased for this van). Many spare parts, including an extra brand new catalytic converter. Tires are in good shape and suspension smooth and soft. The engine is a 2.1 liter waterboxer engine block matched with a 3 speed transmission. This is a used van with very high mileage, there are parts that need to be replaced from wear and age, but is still a great work horse. The Odometer recently stopped working, there may be approx 3,000 more miles on the van than what is displayed. There has been a coolant leak around the cylinder heads (common problem) and the seals have been replaced. The air conditioner pump has been removed from the engine, but will stay with the van. It does work, but the coolant system has a leak somewhere and it wasn't a priority to fix it. This van is being sold "as-is" which is why the low, no reserve starting price. It is in drivable condition and makes for a great rebuild, project vehicle, work horse or just a parts van. There is absolutely no warranty or guarantee that will come with this van. I'm a private seller and have the PA title to the vehicle clean and clear as a whistle. I explained as much as I could in detail about it's condition, so please bid on it with the understanding that it is an older vehicle and that some work may need to be done on it to keep it running. Any questions you may have, please contact me. Delivery, shipping or the pick-up of van is the winning bidder's responsibility. Title transfer will be arranged after auction ends. PA title transfer laws requires that a notary have both parties sign title on location. Check with your local laws concerning title transferring from another state. Good luck!On Jun-16-10 at 17:59:57 PDT, seller added the following information: Revision Update: Started the engine today and saw white smoke coming from the exhaust. Up to now the engine has been running fine, and I was unaware that there was a problem with it. I suspect there might be a seal leak in one of the cylinder heads that just developed and the engine might need some work before using it . It would probably be a good idea to have the van towed instead of being driven, to preserve the engine from any serious damage.
