1996 Mercury Sable Wagon (Stationwagon). 24V engine. Little rust at top of rear wheel-wells. Doors and tailgate are not very rusty. No holes. Interior is cloth; one hole in passenger seat about 1.5" across, otherwise clean. Car has third seat seatbelts and seatback, but the previous owner lost seat bottom. This is a parts car or for restoration. The last owner damaged the transmission; sometimes it would decided not to upshift. The claim was it was a bad shift solonoid (it's still in the box in the car) but I think it was just worn. The bad part is he/she tried to 'kick' the acceleratior, probably in second, at freeway speed. Blew the head gascut. The engine runs, even got reasonable milage, so it must not be too huge, but you can hear the leak It's loud at freeway speeds. I drove it the last 6,000 miles, carefully, but then the first/second clutch burned out (unless it really is that solonoid); it will not shift above first, but tries and goes to nothing. It can be dirven, (I drove it home over 20 miles) but you wouldn't want to drive move than a half mile or so this way. It neads a transmission MORE than an engine. It's a parts car. Other items; windshield is good. Radio (casette), AC work well. Key fobs work for the locks. Power antenna is broken. Multi-function switch (turn signal) is bad. I have one, but that one has a bad wiper control. The rear door has a bad seal at the bottom but it doesn't leak. Interior is cloth; one hole in passenger seat about 1.5" across, otherwise clean. Seats are not power. Back tires are quite good; front are average. Car is alligned. Good muffler. Back passenger side door has mild dent. Pick Up only, and as-is of course. I'm starting this at $250 because I can get that locally as scrap and they will pick it up.
