We acquired this Vanagon a couple months ago from a friend's mother's estate in a package deal with an almost new VW bug. "Grandma" was the original owner, and loved this Vanagon. She had it maintained by a dealer. We took it to our very honest mechanic who informed us that it will need work on brakes, steering (similar to CV boots), and tires. (The tires on it are snow tires from PA and not good for here in Maryland.) We have neither time nor mechanical aptitude to do this work ourselves, but discovered online a very active Vanagon owners community that is more than willing to coach others in the restoration of these wonderful vehicles. They are very popular - and this year has a particularly good reputation. The pictures below were taken under a tree and the van needs a good wash and wax too (There are dirt smudges showing, not rust . . . please come and see!) The engine is sound with no leaks. The body is sound. There is one cosmetic dent in the right rear panel. The interior is in good condition. The middle seat is not currently attached as the previous owner used the van to carry her dog crates for the greyhounds she rescued. This is a true no reserve auction. The initial price is set to enable us to recover our ebay fees and the fees we paid to our mechanic. The vehicle is being sold "as is, where is" with a clear MD title. You are welcome to come and see it - and also to ask questions electronically. We drove the car from the Philadelphia area here to MD without any problems. It starts and runs very smoothly. New owner will need to supply a tag to transport it. Paypal is acceptable as is cash at time of pick up.
