Vehicle Detail

1954 MG TF (MGTF) LOW-MILEAGE RESTORED VINTAGE, UNMODIFIED This item is a restored vintage unmodified (original) 1250 cc 1954 MGTF. The odometer shows the current mileage at 23661 miles. It is my understanding and belief that this is really the correct mileage. I certify that the odometer reading was not changed in any way through the restoration. I have been told that the car was originally purchased in England as a left-hand drive export model by a singer in a group that was performing there. After driving the MG there she shipped the vehicle to the United States and continued to drive the MG for a very short time here. She did not like the MG in the cold weather, no heater and defroster. She left the MG unused and eventually sold it to the Group’s guitarist in the early 1960’s. He drove the car for a very short period and ultimately put it in storage when he was drafted for Vietnam. Upon release from the Army he found that the MG would not start, was still very cold in the winter, and that he could buy a VW “Bug” for a minimal sum. The car continued to be stored. I purchased the car from the guitarist in 1974. I put the car back in operating condition and used it occasionally at antique vehicle events until 1988. Since I purchased the car it has always been garaged and never used in inclement weather. I have never driven the MG on salted roads nor have I ever driven it in the winter. The “Frame Up” restoration was started in 1988 and finished in 1991. The lacquer paint was carefully matched to the original body color. The engine is the original and in excellent condition. Predominantly OEM parts, reported to have been purchased in England and shipped to the U.S., were used in the renovation. The replacement top, tonneau cover, interior and side curtains are in excellent condition. The paint and plating are both in very good condition. A rather complete listing of replacement parts will be provided if requestor provides a stamped self-addressed envelope to seller. The car is available for inspection but this must be coordinated with the seller Please provide direct email address to seller if you desire more or better quality pictures. Since restoration the MG has been registered and has consistently passed NYS annual inspection. The MG is currently registered using vintage 1954 NYS license plates that may be included in the sale if the winning bidder desires them. A deposit of $1000 is to be paid to seller within 48 hours of auction closing. Full payment is due within 7 days of auction closing unless a longer time period is agreed to by seller. Proof of valid transfer of funds is required prior to or at the time of transfer of ownership. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup, shipping/delivery costs, and coordination of pickup with seller.
