Vehicle Detail

I am the 3rd owner of this original Arizona purchased R80ST, and I have owned it since 2004. It runs and handles great. Last weekend I rode my 150 mile loop from San Diego to Julian to Oceanside and back down the coast to San Diego. Over the past two years I have upgraded many items to make it very clean looking, with good stable handling, and a comfortable ride. The Parabellum fairing and windscreen looks sharp and functions very well by blocking airflow from the chest area and also directing it over the helmet. In my opinion, the best option without the bulk of full touring bike. As you can see in the pictures, it can be ridden bare with the stock seat and smaller wind screen. Or it can be transformed for longer trips with side bags, top case, Corbin touring seat, and the 21" windscreen in about 15 minutes. Very versatile. It's been a great bike, but I do not use it enough anymore. Just in time for summer. Following is an outline of the equipment and options. This bike is being sold as is and no warranty is implied or offered. On May-26-10 at 08:35:45 PDT, seller added the following information: ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ R80ST Additional Information: The R80ST was only offered in the US in 1983-1984, and less than 1,000 were imported. Worldwide only 5,963 were produced, so the bike is increasingly rare. The R80ST is basically a BMW factory modified R80G/S, the adventurer/touring bike that started it all. The ST shares all the basic G/S components, same frame, 800cc motor (the smoothest airhead motor BMW ever produced), upswept exhaust, etc. The ST reviews claimed it was “the best handling bike BMW has ever made, especially in the mountain twisties”. This was due to the ST being fitted with a modified R65 front fork (headlight, console, and fender) which lowered the ST’s center of gravity approximately 2”, hence the rear mono shock (the first to be used on any BMW street bike) travel was lowered to match. Additionally, the handle bars, wheels, and tire size were revised to enhance the ST’s handling characteristics. The bike will trundle around town and always seems to have the low end torque that you need. Then again, it is quick and stable on mountain roads. With the lower center of gravity, it can navigate fires roads with no issues, and the ST can also carry two passengers with fully loaded panniers and top case. The R80ST is a very versatile and all usable motorcycle under all conditions.
