Vehicle Detail
1988 Volkswagen Westfalia for sale. 4 cyl water cooled engine, 4 spd manual, with 150,256 miles. This is a full camper model with stove, refrigerator, water holding tank and sink, all in working order. Refrigerator works on 12v, 110v, and propane although when running on propane it is quite hard to light. Sleeps four with pop-up up. Pictures show condition of original upholstery and carpet but van comes with seat covers and rubber mats that were with the vehicle when I bought it and were only taken off for the photos. Still has full set of original curtains. Pop top canvas has patches but did not leak during 6 month trip around North America. May have had to stay in right hand lane but the van handled all the mountain driving just fine. Extras include house battery and inverter, bike rack (bike in photo to show rack style - bike not included), rear cargo rack, removable center console, Pioneer CD player, tinted windows (dark on back windows), home made awning, GoWesty cargo bag, original manuals and a VW Factory Repair Manual. Concerns: A/C not working, small rust spot at rear window (see photo), small coolant leak at head gasket (fixed once with bars leak but starting to drip again), skylight sealed due to leak. Maintenance highlights: alternator replaced at 114K miles, rebuilt transaxle and new clutch at 118.4K, replaced distributor at 119.7K, replaced odometer at 133.8K, new tires at 138.7K, replaced cooling fan at 140.3K, rebuilt shift linkage at 140.3K, replaced seals and crossover tubes on fuel tank at 142.7K, new muffler and catalytic converter at 149.8. Oil and filter changed every 3K since I bought it with 97K miles almost 5 years ago. This has been my everyday vehicle for 4 of the 5 years I’ve owned it. I have 2 vehicles again and am no longer camping so the Westy sadly must go.On May-28-10 at 06:14:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I've added extra photos at: http://s826.photobucket.com/albums/zz189/blu88westy/blu88westy%20extras/ The body pics show the worst of the blemishes.
