Vehicle Detail

Hello, You are bidding on a car I thought I would keep for a long time. My Jaguar XJ6. She is a 1989 XJ6 Vanden Plas with 87,374 actual miles. I bought this car about 5 years ago in Miami as I lived in Orlando at the time. I moved to Chicago and drove her all the way up here straight through with not one single problem! She runs perfectly, starts each and every time within seconds. Transmission shift automatically and manually with no issues at all. This Jaguar has been meticulously well maintained mechanically and physically. Oil has been changed regularly (which is not fun considering she takes 12 qts). Coolant has been changed each year. Power windows, seats, mirrors, and all lights, and switches work. Sunrrof moved forward, and back with ease and no leaks. Car does not leak oil or coolant underneath. No water leaks in the car as some do. I went through this car with a fine toothed comb when I bought it. Repairs and maint. done include: -Water pump, drive belts, alternator, tstat, and brake master cylinder have been replaced in past 6 mos. -Battery, corner lamps, tail light boards, and drivers side blower motor replaced about 2 years ago. -All doors and door latches have been inspected and lubricated in past 6 mos. (These are notorious for breaking handles if not lubricated). -All the work on this jaguar has been done by a 35 year Jaguar technician that still works at a local Chicago Jaguar dealership. I will introduce the high bidder to him if you are interested. -Very rare and hard to find "Roulette" spoke style OEM Jaguar wheels were put on in place of the old "Pepper Pots." All parts on this car are actuall Jaguar OEM parts and there is no body work, accidents, or bad damage to be seen. This car was in Florida for its life and has never seen even one winter where it snows or salt is on the road. Hence the complete lack of undercarriage or body rust. The only two spots even worth mentioning are the right and left edges of the trunk lid, and the front hood to the left and right of the leaper/grill (see in pictures). In all honesty, winning bidder can crawl under car, no "real" rust. The paint is actual from 1989 and when looking at the hood, it is evident. The top of the car got the full brunt of daily driving in the Florida sun. It has the standard sun oxidation of all Florida cars where the factory did not use a clear coat....like most British cars. There is a dent that was push out on the Drivers side area where a 2x4 fell in my garage and landed on the area of the rear fender top. It pushed out well, but you can see some small blemishes. Worth mentioning is the rear defrost is not working. My technician beleives there is a break in the defrost wire. Thats it. Yep, this one is an 89...Ford did not purchase Jaguar until the end of 1989. Might be the last classic. That all being said, the hood and roof needing some TLC is not too bad., many shops could paint them with ease. The other minor flaw is the "stitching" on the driver seat base has deteriorated and could use someone to re-sew the leather panel together. The leather is not torn, only the stiching, and only the drivers seat. The profile views are absolutely gorgeous and I get compliments all the time when I drive her in the local street cruises. Headlights are original and all work. Tires probably have about 10k left on them. I would drive this car back down to Florida from Chicago without a second guess.....she will make it with ease. I have a couple random parts and extra spare tires I will include in the auction. Also, the suspension was converted some time ago by the Jaguat dealership when they recalled the self-leveling suspension, which was terrible. All tsuspension components are now a shock/coil spring assembly. Figured it was worth mentioning since many of these XJ6's have not been converted and end up costing owners tons of money. As I stated, I had full intentions of keeping this car for years to come, but I tend to get attached to cars easily and have to thin out the herd. You may find a better looking XJ6 out there, but surely will not find a better driving and more reliable one without some serious searching. Any questions please ask. Thanks!
