Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE You are bidding on a 1971 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia with an air cooled 4 cylinder engine with a standard 3 speed transmission. It is ready for a full restoration as a good base (still needs a lot of work), or as a complete parts car. A restoration was started about 7 to 8 years ago on the vehicle. This vehicle has succumbed to the unfortunate circumstances of good intentions to restore a nice classic. Unfortunately, the usual culprits of time, money, space, and too many projects have lead to the sale of this vehicle. One person’s bad news can be another’s opportunity. It has a good clear MI title. The good starts with a new paint job (actually painted about 7 years ago), and has been garaged stored the entire time. It is a complete car that was stripped down with sheet metal patching up the bad spots in the visual places, and then painted. The vehicle was then partially put back together (Engine and transmission are installed in the car). Hood and trunk latch cables work well. This is where the restoration stopped. The seats are in good condition, and replaced by the previous owner. The work done and new and old parts include. 1) New nice red paint job (a little wax and polish would make it shine) 2) New tires and Chrome Wheels (bought in 2009) 3) New exhaust pipe (included, not attached to engine) 4) New Windshield (Installed) 5) New gaskets for the Windshield and back window (Installed) 6) New gaskets for the rest of the car (included, not installed) 7) New brake and fuel lines (included, not installed) 8) New rear brakes (installed) 9) New shocks and rubber grommets (installed in rear, not in front) 10) Chrome Engine parts (included, not installed) 11) Trim Pieces are there, but not installed on the car 12) Two Volkswagen Repair and how to manuals included. 13) Class II Tow bar to tow the car 14) 5 original steel wheels with tires with 3 hubcaps 15) Other odds and ends Now for the bad news, the car will not start. The car needs all new wiring, brake lines and fuel lines replaced with the new ones. The engine is good and not frozen, but has not run in a few years. There is rust in the floor pans, with most of the floor being replaced. Approximately 75% of the sheet metal work has been completed. Unfortunately, some of the bad spots were not cut out, but covered over. Also, some of the work may have to be replaced. There are a few holes in the floor pan under the rear seat. The bumpers will either have to be replaced and/or repaired. The dash pad, carpet, glove compartment liner, some interior trim panels and head liner are long since gone. Some of the interior trim panels are not included with the car. New ones have not been purchased. Some of the cabling (clutch and throttle) in the transmission tunnel might have to be replaced because they are frozen. Make no mistake, there is a lot of work that needs to be done to the car to make it road worthy. The car rolls freely and is not frozen up. Vin # 1412624318 The vehicle is also for sale locally, and I have the right to stop the auction without notice if it sells. So bid soon and bid often. The starting price is low, and reasonable with no reserve. The car is sold as is, with no warranty. Do not bid on the vehicle if you do not intend to pay. A $150 non refundable down payment is due by Fed EX or PayPal within 3 days after the end of the auction by the winning bidder. The remaining balance is due within 7 days from the end of the auction by cash, or bank cashiers check, unless other arrangements are made. The Vehicle is located in Grand Ledge MI. I am selling it for a friend. The winning bidder is responsible for all and any plans and charges for transportation or moving. If you have any questions, please email me. Good luck and happy Ebaying.
