1965 Pontiac Tempest Custom Convertible Restoration Project-GREAT GTO CLONE This car was bought for our son's senior project. The project is over and the car needs to go. WE WANT OUR GARAGE BACK!! Our son and his mentor replaced the brakes (shoes and drums), alternator, carburetor, fuel pump, gas tank and sending unit, sparks plugs and wires. Wheel cylinders and front wheel bearings. The radiator was rebuilt at a local radiator shop. The wheels are 15" Rally Wheels with brand new BF Goodrich TA radials. They have approximately 100' on them. Also included is a new top, rechromed GTO rear bumper, red door panels and LH rear tail lens. The front bumper is included. It needs to be rechromed. The interior needs to be replaced/recovered. No carpet. We were told when we bought the car that the engine was a 400. We were told by the mentor that it was 1973 pontiac 350 from a Catalina. We do not know. The engine does start right up and runs well. After we got the car running, we found out the transmission was not functioning and the project and the car stopped!! We do not have the knowledge or space to continue. The pictures are accurate in their description of the car. The body is in great shape in our opinion for a 45 year old car. We are located in Gloucester, VA and the car can be looked at there. The car is sold as is where is with no warranty. The car has been kept in a garage since the early 1980's. On May-21-10 at 14:12:34 PDT, seller added the following information: We have had alot of questions about the frame. We did not think we could get pictures of the frame. We looked this afternoon and took these pictures. There appears to be surface rust on the frame and some spots are rusted through. We took pictures of the "worst" spots. We hope this helps.
