Vehicle Detail
VIN: 1G6AD479xB9101746 6.0 litre v-8 (4-6-8) engine 164,000 miles Color is listed as tan but this was only because it is the closest description I can give. Actual color number was covered by overspray on door tag. The cadillac color is most likely differant so, use your own source or cadillac dealer to identify actual color code from my photos, sorry for this inconveniance. Serious collectors only please. Engine runs fine but needs some work that you can do in your spare time. Air conditioner compressor needs replaced or recharged. We put a battery disconnect in the car so that we could turn off all the power while in the garage. Somewhere there is an electronic module that sticks during damp weather and makes a clicking sound BUT only during cold damp weather and it can drain the battery if not disconnected BUT in warm weather there seems to be no problem whatsoever. Radiator has one real tiny leak. Power steering leaks a bit and will require attention. Second rebuilt Transmission works good. Exhaust pipes and converter good. I don’t know if the pollution control would pass because we were’t required to upgrade that for where we live. Window washer pump needs replaced, you know they never last. The wipers work but need new blades and adjustment. The pans that cover the rocker arms on top of the engine need new gaskets because the old ones let oil leak out and down onto the manifolds and this smokes and smells but never any problem with fires. The smoking manifold is probably the worst problem with the car other than the AC compressor is not working. Oil use is not overly unusual for the age of this car. It is not burning it out the exhaust. It leaks about 1 quart ever 2 or 3 months in hot weather, slower if cold. Battery is still good with more life left in it. Body will require a rework for anyone interested. Top part of car is exceptional but the car has rust along the bottoms of doors and around bottom of fenders. One side of the car was repainted once when we had a fender bender that caved in one door and part of a fender years ago. Guy did a sloppy paint job on that. My father had someone do it but I would not have accepted the finished work because there are some run marks around the door handle on that side and some overspray inside the door to obscure the tag. A new paint job of a different color would be nice for this car. All of the plastic parts that they included in the body of the car, mostly around the rear fins and down low on the front fenders has cracked and will need replaced or filled in or other options. Doors are solid but have rust below. Bottom of both front fenders have a square void that was originally covered with a cheap plastic panel that eventually degraded, cracked and fell out. Those were just covers to replace some lighting option that the original owner never ordered, I think that they were for curb feelers and curb illuminators but I’m not sure. The car’s Chrome held up really good and still jazzes up the car quite a bit. Underside has never been subjected too much to harsh winters and salt but some was unavoidable. I would have put photos for this but took the insurance and registration off the car before I thought about putting it up on a lift to take photos, so I can’t get it to a service center to shoot pics. There is some rust but not any cracks in the frame that I can find and it is certainly not bad for this age of car. Some sandblasting of underside to restore integrity will be necessary. Car was originally undercoated when purchased by the first owner who was a clean freak. Car has a full frame that is in good shape for a car this age. No damage was done years ago to the frame when the minor damage occurred to the door and fender. There are no bent or broken segments to the frame because it was hit higher up above the stronger portion of the frame and the door was crunched and part of one fender. Everything works under there but the shocks will need replacing as a normal event in due time. Front end is in really good shape. Rides strait and true at high speed. We never had any problems with keeping the front end in line and true. Some play in steering wheel but not abnormally so. Good brakes all around. Disc front and drum back that work good. We had them turned true about 2 years ago so there is no shimmy in the rotors. No abnormal tire wear or wander, cupping or other to be concerned about. HAS second auto transmission that works well. Has power windows, leather interior, power locks, factory cruise, MPG calculator, Has inspection sticker due for September 2010, descent non-radial winter tires, chrome is still good, brakes good, rotors good. The 4-6-8 function never caused us any problems and worked well but we do not live at any high elevations or near deserts or by any oceans that could adversely effect it. This car has great potential for any collector who wants a good car to re-work and customize. I won’t lie to you about the glitches. It has 164,000 highway miles but you would not know it to drive it. I would keep it for myself if I had some money to invest but I don’t. I drive a ford F150 and its almost like new. This car is in fair to good shape for its age and the interior is exceptional and original factory equipment. No scuffs and no tears in rear seats. Some wear tearing in front seats will require work to restore, mostly driver side but some on passenger side too. It is not real noticeable for some reason. Both owners were smokers but the interior is not a problem considering that fact. Sun visors are worn out and need re-done. Needs better carpeting but this will do for now, all original. Window glass is all good. Window Seals are good. Spare tire retainer in trunk came up missing somewhere along the line so the Real spare tire is on the loose back there. The car really rides nice with radials but right now I’m using non-radial winters. This car rides really solid and stable at higher speeds on the highway so that the owner feels safe. Let me tell you that you could do a lot worse by buying something else to refurbish and I’m not really bragging. I was once a mechanic and know what works and what does not. If you are an auto enthusiast and a tinkerer this would be nice for you. Electrical is working OK but there is a glitch that I mentioned earlier with a module on the engine. It causes no problem in warm summer season but we added the battery disconnect just to be sure. All lights work well. Internal dash lights and indicators still work fine. Radio has a concealed antennae that will extend automatically when it is turned on. Power locks and windows work but the windows will need lubed soon, one sqeaks when used. Wipers work but skip and will need adjusted and needs new blades. No warranty is issued with this offer and there are no garantees. Buyer must arrange for shipping and new registration and insurance for delivery. Current registration is void but we have the title and its clean.
