Vehicle Detail
1985 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate edition. Low original miles and no rust.....really! I have owned other Alfas in the past and have always had a soft spot in my heart for these cars so when the opportunity to acquire a clean, black spider presented itself I jumped on it. What I failed to consider was the fact that I already have a 2 seat convertible and two small kids so not only do I not have the time to enjoy the car when I do my family can't enjoy it with me. This car is clean and tight, I have been told that it was restored at some point by a previous owner however I cannot find evidence of the car being repainted or having any significant body work done. The floors, trunk, rockers are all solid and show no signs of patching or repairs. This is a Graduate model so it's pretty stripped down.....no power windows, no a/c. The top is in excellent condition, with the rear window being clear and scratch-free. The black vinyl interior is in excellent condition with no rips or tears, just some loosened stitching on the seat bottoms and 1 area on the passenger seat where it appears somebody scratched a pattern into part of the seat bottom. This is a small area and really does not detract from the condition, I'm just trying disclose everything. As I've said, I have owned other Alfas and this one is quite fast, it will cruise right along at 80 MPH with no effort whatsoever. Shifting is smooth with only a slight protest if you really jam it from 1st to 2nd gear. In reverse the shifter will pop out of gear under strain such as backing up a hill but stays in if you hold the shifter. No issues when backing out of parking place on a flat surface. My driveway slopes up to the road and I can back out with no issues if I hold it in gear while backing. Again, no issues in forward gears whatsoever I just want to fully inform. Condition of the body is excellent, no dings and as I've stressed.....no rust!!. There is a dent on the nose of the car where either a previous owner back under something or an SUV backed into the Alfa. The front of these cars is deceptively long and they often get dinged in the nose. You can see evidence of this in the pictures I've posted. I purchased a bra for the car on eBay but frankly only put it on once as the damage is so minimal it doesn't detract from the look of the car and frankly I've always been a fan of the bra-less look. There is an older 80's vintage Blaupunkt cassette player which is pretty worthless but sounds OK. I don't know if the cassette player works because I can't find any cassettes anywhere. I have owned this car for 2 years and put less than 1000 miles on it. It is stored in a garage and only exercised on the nicest sunny days. For what these cars sell for you're getting a lot of Italian styling and performance. It's not an everyday car by any stretch but has history and performance that a Miata will never have and will get over 30 MPG to boot!! Plus in CT the property taxes with the antique plate are about about $20 per year and I have it insured through Haggarty's for less than $150/yr with full coverage. It's really a cheap-to-own, cheap-to-run, fun escape for those sunny days when you can find the time to cruise to the shore or find a twisty road with the wind blowing through your hair. I'm happy to answer any question and can take any specific pictures you may want. Test drives can be arranged and I'll assist with shipping at your expense. I have sold several cars on eBay and have perfect feedback, I'm listing at a fair price with no reserve. If it sells, great, somebody will get a great car they can enjoy. If it doesn't I'll just keep in in the garage with the piece of mind that it's value won't go down and one day I'll have the time to enjoy it.
