It was originally purchased on October 9th,1973 at Mike Rudin Mercedes in San Diego, CA by original owner Fred Mengerelli. It has always remained a Southern California and Arizona car changing hands only three times in almost 40 years. It has remained his pride and joy of all three senior owners, and now is being offered to a new caretaker. This car is fully documented with all service receipts and stamps, all of which document the low miles and exceptional service history. The car has been very well cared for whole life and has been in driven lightly for about the last 5 years with very few miles put on it.. One nice thing about the '73 Sl's is the pre-regulation bumpers on this car. It makes the cars look so much more sleek and follow the lines of the earlier Pagoda SLs. The paint on the car is finished in it gorgeous color of Olympic White and is in awesome condition and looks as good as the day in rolled of the lot. The car has been completely inspected underneath from front to back and is solid as a rock as an California car should be. The car is riding on nice, original Mercedes 14" chrome wheels with like new Michelin radials. All chrome trim, glass, and rubber seals are in great shape. The navy blue soft top was replaced in 2002, and is in excellent condition, and the plastic windows are not scratched or yellowed in the slightest. The hard top has good seals and the headliner is in awesome shape. Overall the exterior appearance of this car is a 9.5 out of 10. The interior is also in great shape all around. The dash and door panels are in like new condition. The blue seats are all in very good condition and look very nice with no rips or serious ware, which shows the quality of the material used in this car. The carpets are all very nice are not worn or damaged. The car has a brand new set of Mercedes floor mats. All dials and controls function as they should, power windows and antenna also are fully functional. All lights, gauges switches, and accessories work as they should. The trunk is all complete with the original rubber mat, original Dunlop spare, correct jack and complete tool kit. Mechanically, this SL runs GREAT! The car starts right up and shifts smooth as silk. It drives as good now as the day it rolled of the lot. The V8 engine is surprisingly quick and responsive. It is reliable, easy to fix, and parts are readily available. The car was always regularly serviced by Mercedes authorized dealers. The service book is stamped for all regular oil changes up to about 60k, and the rest are in service receipts. A new radiator and water pump were just installed. The car will include 1 Original Key, tool kit, original spare tire, 2 top removal tools, and the maintenance books and owners manuals and service paperwork. All in all, this is one of the cleanest and nicest SL that I have had the privilege of being associated with. It has been professionally maintained and truly loved by its previous owners.
