Vehicle Detail

I am the third own of this 1997 Subaru SVX. The car was purchased by me in 2004 and has been owned and operated in upstate NY since then. The vehicle history report INCORRECTLY shows the car being in Wisconsin in 2006. The car has been owned by me since 2004, and there has been no odometer roll back. I purchased it around 120,000 and it currently has 168,500. The car is in overall fair condition. If it was fully restored it could be a great specimen of a very rare vehicle. This is the 4th SVX made in the final year of production, 1997. There are a few dents and scrapes on the body; the car was hit while parked on three separate occasions. The pictures show the damage to the body. There is very little rust on the car, because there is a layer of zinc paint that Subaru used to prevent rusting. The engine is in full working order. There is a slight oil leak (about 1/4 quart per oil change) from the seals around the valve covers. Additionally, one of the lower coolant hoses has a slight leak. The radiator was replaced two years ago, and the hose was not replaced at that time. The spark plugs and coils are all new, and the battery is new as well. The oil was changed regularly with Mobil 1 synthetic. The transmission is also in working order, and the AWD works as expected in slippery conditions. When the car was last driven regularly (it has been driven very little over the past 6 months) the transmission shifted smoothly. A slight lose of power was experienced on a couple occasions, and the cure for that was an adjustment of the band brake on the transmission. These cars are somewhat notorious for transmission issues, however there is a very reliable service that can be performed to recondition a transmission into better than original condition for less than the cost of a refurb transmission from the factory. The tires are relatively new (Kuhmo Ecsta All Season) and still have a good portion of tread remaining (about 9/32). The brakes we recently serviced with new pads and a new caliper on the drivers side. The spare tire (donut type) is missing; it was not with the car when I purchased it. The interior is in fair condition. The leather is smooth with no deep cracks. One of the sunroof motors is unpredictable, and sometimes you need to help it open or close manually. All other accessories work. The stock speakers have been replaced with aftermarket units, but the head unit is original. On May-06-10 at 05:12:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Additional info: Since the band brake was adjusted, the issue with momentary lose of power has not been experienced again. I have several miscellaneous parts for the car that I will include with it. Including replacement axle boots (the passenger side boot is torn) and some other related seals and parts, some v-belts, and an aftermarket transmission fluid cooler. The car does have an aftermarket transmission filter already installed. The stock security system/keyless entry did not work properly when I purchased the car, so it has an aftermarket key-less entry system with the option for a remote starter. The remote start portion is installed, but is currently disabled. The stock system is still installed, just unplugged. On May-07-10 at 10:36:35 PDT, seller added the following information: Updated information: Just want to confirm that the vehicle history report is INCORRECT. This car was never registered in Wisconsin. It has been registered in New York every year I have owned it, since 2004. The odometer was NEVER ROLLED BACK. The vehicle was never issued a title in a state other than New York since I purchased it in 2004. The car has all the Vin badges on the body and engine, and the last digits are etched in all the glass. I am not sure why the history report shows this incorrect information, and I have contacted CarFax and AutoCheck regarding this issue, hopefully it will be updated soon. On May-12-10 at 17:27:12 PDT, seller added the following information: More information: I have received a few questions asking if the car would be capable of a long drive home after a potential purchase. While I don't see any reason the car would not make a long trip, it has not been driven regularly for nearly 6 months and it is hard to say what potential issues can come up on a long drive.
