Vehicle Detail
If you are in the market for a higher dollar muscle car and have the cash, this is an incredible opportunity. Up for sale is my personal 1969 GTO Convertible I have owned for about 5 years. It is one of the finest examples of a 1969 GTO convertible available right now in my opinion. At the price I am willing to sell it someone is going to score. This is a PHS documented numbers matching car. The 400ci motor has only about 200 miles on a professional performance rebuild which cost over 7500.00 The original YS block was bored .040 over and the number #62 heads were treated to a valve job and were mildy ported. A new 400 stock crank with forged pistons were installed. The cam is a 230/236 comp cams custom grind to allow for more vacuum for braking. The Rochester Quadrajet carb has been rebuilt specific to engine specs and I replaced the points distributor with HEI. (I still have the points distributor and it comes with the car). GTO’s are beautiful, but most 400’s are tired and poorly tuned. This setup is producing 400+ hp and is a blast to drive mated to a TH 400 and a 3.55 rear. Sometimes spins posi, sometimes not. The motor leaks no fluids, runs cool, and is low maintenance. While the car is a standard 350 horsepower 400, the factory correct Ram Air III setup was added professionally. This means it has an upper and lower pan, a pull cable and bracket, functional scoops, operational flapper doors, pre-heat shroud and tube. It is fully operational and looks fantastic. While the RA III wasn’t an original factory option the car has 22 of those making it highly optioned. Some of the coolest options are the hood tach, wood wheel, exhaust tips, trunk release, shoulder belts, remote mirror, disc brakes, am/fm radio, electric antenna and an 8-track. See PHS docs for a full list. You can’t beat this color combo of Mayfair Maize, parchment interior and black top. It is beautiful and really pops. The body is laser straight and rust free. The paint is very deep and has few flaws. There is a run on the rear spoiler. Other than that the paint is perfect. It looks as good from 10? as is does from 10 feet. All the chrome is nice with no pitting. All weatherstrip is in great shape. This GTO is unmolested. While it has been painted and the motor rebuit, the car has never been off the frame. The car wasn't frame off restored because it didn't need it. It was a North Carolina car and the undercarriage is nice and rust free. The front seats have recently been recovered, the dash is uncracked and the carpet is ORIGINAL. I replaced buttons and chrome interior trim from time to time so most of it is also new. The original radio works sometimes and sometimes not. Car drive beautifully with no shakes or rattles. Bottom line is the fit and finish on this GTO is second to none. I am still not happy with the exhaust. And, to add insult to injury someone chipped the perfect rear bumper at their shop. So, to make her perfect she will need a new bumper ($375).I have an Indiana title and I have never registered the car in the 5 years I have owned it. It has only been trailered. Full gallery at http://www.austinclassiccars.net/about/1969-pontiac-gto-conv/ I am motivated to sell this car but I will only do so at a fair price for which I am willing to wait. I will do what it takes to get a "soulful" buyer into this car up to and including: -trades plus cash-in-house financing-free delivery -90 day money back guarantee-and anything you can think of that makes sense Yes, I am that confident this car will make someone very happy. Again I want to sell it but only at a fair price so dealers and bottom feeders need not apply. Serious buyers should call Steve at 512-263-0863 with questions. Thanks for looking. On May-07-10 at 17:20:49 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been getting a bunch of questions so I need to make a couple of things clear. 1) it is a guaranteed to be a numbers matching car. And, 2) $25,000 WILL NOT buy the car. Thanks. On May-08-10 at 13:59:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Two more things. The sale will be set up as a private sale, not a dealer sale. And, if you are planning on making a trade, please clear the trade with me before bidding. Thanks.
