Vehicle Detail

SUMMARY Well kept 1989 V-12 Jaguar XJS Convertible with just under 94,600 miles. Black exterior with tan leather interior. Car has been garaged since I took ownership of it in the late 1990's. Owner before me happens to be a friend of mine and was very meticulous about the car. You will be hard pressed to find a car in this year/mileage that is in better shape. If I could keep this car I would, since I'm sure it will be highly collectible as it is the first model year of the convertible since the XK's previously. Why am I selling this car? Because I also have a convertible Porsche and now need to make room in the garage for the new convertible Ferrari which will be arriving in less than 2 weeks. I have title in hand ready to send to the next owner. I will have the car listed in various publications and reserve the right to sell the car through those outlets at any time before the auction ends. PAYMENT I will only accept a bank certified check, cashier's check, money order, or cash (in person). SHIPPING If you need assistance with shipping, I can provide you with my shipping contact. THE GOOD: Overall, car is in great shape. Paint shines like new. Chrome is in excellent condition. Strong runner. Leather and wood is in good condition. Tires have less than 1,000 miles on them. Had it in storage for last 3-4 years and spent $1,989 on 7/22/09 to get it in running condition. Work was done by Performance Jaguar in Costa Mesa, CA. Itemized work includes: New spark plugs New Ditributor cap/ new distributor ignition wires New vacuum advance unit New battery New wiper switch New coolant tank New shock bushings Passed smog Owner before me had spent some $17,000 in upgrades including: Newer/larger window motors (motors tended to burn out, replaced with larger later model jag motors). Underpowered ragtop motor replaced with larger motor. Replaced windshield wiper motors. Replaced computer component located in trunk. THE NOT-SO-GOOD: Chrome rims show some pitting and wheel caps deteriorating. Small hole (about the size of a quarter) in headliner on driver's side next to the lockdown latch for the convertible top (shown in photos). There's a layer between the cloth headliner and the canvas top that is deteriorating/crumbling (not sure what it is, could just be the other side of the cloth headliner that's made of some brittle cloth-like material). Cloth top is over 20 years old and probably should be replaced. Driver's side window doesn't go all the way up (it stops about a quarter inch short of completely being closed); all other windows work prefectly. Driver's side has some wear on the seat piping closest to the door (shown in photos). Air conditioning is currently not functioning.
