This is a 1968 Chrysler Newport Convertible. It has a 383 2bbl V8 with automatic transmission. I have had this car for the last 14 years and driven it only a little over 1000 miles. It was last inspected in PA in July of 2003. Currently, it would need some work to pass inspection. The speedometer and gas guage both stopped working last year. I suspect a broken speedo cable and possibly the fuel level sender unit needs repair. It starts right up every time, but the brakes should be gone over for safety before it's driven for any distance. It needs a new top. The current one is not original and should be black pebble grain to keep the car all original. The power top mechanism works perfectly. I replaced the carpets once but they have some water damage from the top leaking. The back seat has some splits and the weather stripping and door panels need to be fixed up. The dash pad is near perfect but the vinyl on the bottom of the dash is peeling. I simply don't have the time or the money to make this car what I'd like it to be and hope someone can restore it and have fun with it. Included are some spare parts and lots of documentation including a 1968 Chrysler dealer brochure, a 1968 Chrysler service manual and an electrical diagram. The original operators manual is in the glove box and I have recovered the original build sheet from under the back seat.
