1979 Jeep CJ7 304 V8 3 Speed Manual This Jeep has been our family toy for the past 10 years. I owned a 78 CJ5 when I was young and wanted to build a CJ7 from the ground up. This was my solution, a very dependable convertible just in time for spring; we would jump in on pretty days and have adventures. It sat nearly idle last year and if I’m not going to use it, than it need’s to go! So here it is, somewhat cleaned up, rolled out of the garage where it resides and took some pictures. I have always driven at least once a month but now it has become a chore. If you have always wanted an AMC V8 Jeep CJ7, You can buy it ready to drive. This Auction is No Reserve and starts less than half my total investment, but money is not why this Jeep was built. We have had a great time but it needs to go to another home! This Jeep is a ground up rebuild starting with a dipped, boxed, enameled frame. Everything was replaced with stock or better parts, brakes from pads to master cylinder (SS lines, SS front backing plates...), fuel system from new tank to carburetor, Rebuilt 304 by local speed shop with all new components including oil pump housing, professionally assembled, transfer case and transmission rebuilt, new bushings, bearings and seals, new drivetrain, all new steering linkage and steering box, leaf springs... nothing was left out. The body is an original Laredo that came from a donor vehicle in Texas, absolutly no rust minus minor surface rust in areas and in the foot pans from my lazyness… Dash is original, tilt power steering, power brakes, heater core, new BestTop Super top... Upgrades from stock include a slightly more aggressive cam, HEI DUI ignition system http://www.performancedistributors.com/index.html . This Jeep rides and drives as new, and a bit more horse power. I could go on and on with long lists of parts… best to say this was a labor of love and was built to be reliable and comfortable for the family on trips through state parks, afternoon drives and even a couple of parades. It needed to be capable of traveling several hundreds of miles with absolutly no mechanical issues and it has been exactly that! I have put on just over 11,000 miles since it was completed, mostly highway and no four wheeling. Please do not expect this to be a show vehicle, The body and paint is original and has dings and chips yet is in exceptional condition considering most do not survive without rot. The seats were new Aqua BestTop and have not been as durable as one would expect. The interior is bare paint in very good condition ready for any floor option you choose. This Jeep comes with the half doors as shown and a pair of hard doors for winter. I have all the service manuals, and a box of original parts that I did not want to discard.
