I had the trim tag changed to black with white stripes, pearl bucket seat interior, and a white convertible top. Trim tag was professionally installed, and looks absolutely factory. I had previously owned a black SS396 convertible with white stripes, and loved the color combination. I still have the original Green Mist trim tag, which goes with the car. Frame – The mint frame was completely restored with all new suspension parts; springs, KYB shocks, poly-graphite bushings, stainless steel fuel lines & brake lines, as well as stainless steel emergency brake cables. Power disc brakes up front; stock drum brakes in the rear. Rear end is coded 12-Bolt, non-Positraction, but now houses 3:73 gears with Posi. The rear end was professionally rebuilt by Slip-Tech, Inc., here in Columbus, Ohio. Body - All bodywork was completed off the frame in 2008. Car received new quarters (Goodmark on the left & very good used GM on the right), floor and trunk floor (Goodmark); two very good used GM front fenders, plus a mint original GM cowl induction hood. Gaps are all good. Car is in primer, with the door jambs, trunk jamb and firewall all painted in #19 Tuxedo Black paint. Front and rear (SS) bumpers need replated, but bumpers are straight with all bumper brackets. Underside of the car was seam-sealed and looks great. All outer convertible only windshield stainless trim is there; pinch weld moldings for the rear deck have had snap buttons installed. Rear wheel well moldings are new reproductions. LF wheel well molding is good-used, need RF. Weather-stripping is all new reproduction (both door weatherstrips have already been installed). All five (AO) SS rims were professionally restored to original. Have original trim rings and center caps. New white stripe kit (for band-aid stripes) is included. Headlight extensions are in good shape, however LH one does have a small ding in it. Seven headlight bezels in fair-good condition are included (4-RH, 3-LH), along with one T-3 headlight. Front grill is included (one tab is broken), with all front grill stainless in very good condition. "Chevelle" emblem is still on the front grille. Front "SS" grille emblem, "396" front fender emblems, and rear "Chevelle by Chevrolet" emblem are all NOS. Front fender "SS" emblems are new reproductions. Rear lower valence panel is off the car, but included. Front and rear side marker lights with painted rear bezels are all there. Convertible top frame is in good shape, but needs new canvass and glass back window. Convertible top motor and all related power top parts are included. Car will need a new windshield, gas tank, tires, and dashboard wiring harness. Drive Train - Engine is a numbers matching 396/350 block, with 4-speed (CTX). All major engine components (block, crank, heads, intake and exhaust manifolds), are the correct casting numbers for the car, and pre-date the build date of the car. The engine is apart, but basically all there. Engine components will need to be machined and then assembled. You will need a new cam, gasket set, and possibly other small parts. Transmission is correct for the car, by casting number (#3925661), date (March 16, 1970), and VIN (#10B170830). Flywheel, #621 Bellhousing, clutch, pressure plate, Z-bar, clutch rod and clutch fork are all included. Drive shaft and transmission yoke are all there. NO exhaust pipes. Interior - Interior is apart and out of the car. Bucket seats and rear seat have been professionally recovered in Pearl vinyl and are in the car. Bucket seats received new cushions, seat backs & bottoms, and all new chrome trim. Driver’s seat is power; both buckets have automatic seat back releases. Steering column is an original 4-speed tilt column (with ignition key), along with the optional Comfort Grip steering wheel and horn button. All convertible interior windshield trim is in decent shape, and included. 4-speed tunnel hump and console rear mounting bracket were both installed new when the floors were replaced. Power window and power door lock assemblies/harnesses are out of the car, but included. Door and rear side glass are all tinted and in good shape. Inside door handles are both there, as is rear view mirror with map light. Inner heater box with all duct work is there. Black visors and mounting brackets are both there. The vanity mirror on the passenger side visor is missing. Convertible only courtesy lights and harness are there. NO carpet. Black standard seat belts (68/69) go with the car. New reproduction Pearl door panels are included. Cowl Induction – Almost new (reproduction?) cowl induction air cleaner assembly (base, lid, flange, seal & filter), GM support set for cowl door, used GM hood pins, flapper valve, cowl opening screen and actuator. Repro cowl hood wiring grommet. NOS cowl induction retainer clips. Spacer for cowl induction air cleaner is missing. Dash Assembly – Original 1970 SS dashboard with a very nice original stereo dash pad in black is included. Tach gauges are complete, with a 5500 redline. Tach dash has a crack in it, and the radio opening has been enlarged to accept an aftermarket radio. Original 1970 AM 8-Track Stereo Radio is included. Heater face plate and all associated heater/air conditioning wiring/cables are there, along with a new repro heater face plate. Glove box door is new reproduction. Under dash AC vent and AC vents in the dash are all good. Ash tray has the optional fiber-optic light. Optional low wiper fluid indicator lamp for under the dash is also there. Engine Compartment – Most engine compartment items are off the car. Radiator core support (original) is installed, and looks great. Inner fenders are both in very good condition. Radiator, top plate and NOS GM fan shroud are included. Steering box was rebuilt by Steer N Gear here in Columbus, OH, and is installed. Outer heater box with air conditioning parts is included, but the box itself has one or two fixable cracks (have a second outer heater box for parts that will be included). All air conditioning parts are there, including the compressor and the big block AC brackets. Both crank/water pump pulleys for an air-conditioned big-block car are included. Wiper motor, wiper assembly and wiper arms are all there. Big block intermediate steering shaft is there. Brake booster and master cylinder are included. Engine harness and forward wiring harnesses, along with the battery, will need replaced. Bottom Line – I was laid off for 6-months in 2009, and have since found employment, but at a much lower salary. I can’t see being able to finish this car anytime soon. I have reluctantly decided to sell it, along with all the parts I have accumulated for it over the past five years. All labor and materials used on the frame/body to this point have been done right, with no short cuts. The car was being built to drive and keep, not to re-sell. I have invested over $26K in the car to date, not including the initial cost of the car. Bodywork alone was over $8,400; not including panels and materials. Trim Tag: 2 ST70 13667 B098637 BDY TR791 19 A PNT 04A B 0410 I have a clean Ohio title, all receipts to date, along with the following: 1) Original 3rd edition (2/70) Owner's Manual 2) Original 1970 Chevelle dealer sales brochure. 3) Original 1970 Chevelle, Monte Carlo and Nova custom feature accessories brochure. 4) Chevrolet Chassis Service Manual for 1970. I have no factory documentation for the car. Reserve is fair, considering my investment and the workmanship to date. Reserve will not be divulged. I reserve the right to end auction early, due to the car being advertised elsewhere. Car is located outside of Columbus, Ohio. Personal inspections of the car are welcome and recommended. All shipping/transport costs will be the responsibility of the buyer, but I will assist in any way that I can. Payment is due seven (7) days from auction’s end. Once the car is paid for, I can store the car (and all parts), in a dry/alarmed/secure building for as long as you need, for $100/month. Summary of what the car needs: 1) Paint 2 Gas Tank 3) Windshield 4) Tires (5) 5) Wiring Harnesses (dash, engine and forward) 6) Carpet 7) Exhaust pipes & tips 8) White headrests for bucket seats 9) Battery 10) RF Wheel Well Molding 11) Spacer for Air Cleaner 12) Convertible Top Fabric & back glass I’m sure I've missed a few things, but these are the major items.
