Vehicle Detail
I bought this jeep last year as a fun car with plans to lift it and fix it up, but my wife got pregnant and we found ourselves in minvan-land much sooner than we necessarily thought. The Jeep has got go to in order to make room in the garage. Mechanically, there's nothing that I would say is catastrophically wrong with the vehicle - there are minor issues though that you'd expect on an 11 year old car with almost 100K miles. It's an automatic with AC, and pre-wired for a CB with an Antenna wired up through the underside of the driver's side of the windshield. I have to recharge the AC system probably once a month but the truth is I never use the AC - it's a jeep and you should have the top down anyway. Speaking of which, the top is serviceable and it goes through rainstorms just fine but a couple zippers are stuck and it's pretty weather-beaten. A new top, while not a requirement, would be a good investment in a year or so if you like to take the panels on/off or give the rig a more polished look. I've replaced the starter, alternator, rear main, and everything has been starting, running, charging very well. The only issue I still have is the oil pan leaks a bit - I have a new one on order and the new oil pan and gasket will be included in the sale of the Jeep - I'll install it myself for free if I get around to it before the sale but I just ordered the parts from JC Whitney, so it might take a few days to get here and I might not have time. I bought it with a small dent on the back bumper - I took a picture of that. There are some other small rusty areas typical on the TJ's, like the door hinges, hood hinges, etc. The underside is rusty as well but again I feel this is pretty typical for a Jeep that spent a lot of its initial life in the colder (salty) winters of Illinois. One final gripe I have that is minor (but I try to be as negative as possible on the vehicle description so nobody can accuse me of trying to hide anything) is that the high beams only intermittently work - it's weird and I have not troubleshot it since I always planned on getting some OR lights anyway or a light bar and then who the heck needs high beams... I'm open if you have any other questions, just email me. $500 deposit due within 48 hours of auction close and full payment must occur within 7 days or purchaser will forfeit deposit.
