Vehicle Detail

1968 Camaro RS rally sport In an effort to answer as many questions up front, I have posted a lengthy ad The History: I am the 2nd owner of this car. I purchased this car from the original owner ( a school teacher)in 1977 for 900.00. it had aprox 97,000 miles on it. I was a Junior in high school at the time. I immediately put a rebuilt 327 in it and replaced the 2 speed auto with a short shaft 400 turbo automatic. In 1978 the front end was wrecked going about 20 miles per hour. The damage was limited to the upper and lower valances, drivers side front fender, hood, grill and possibly the fender well (I don't remember for sure). It still has the original core support ,hidden headlight canisters and passenger side fender. I bought as many new OEM body parts as I could but the hood came from a parts car. The hood was not perfect (had a little warp in it). I searched forever to find a better hood at the time with no success. In 1978 we had no internet and I lived in a small town at the time so I was forced to use the hood from the parts car. No one has ever said anything about the little warp but I know it's there and have always hated it. I bought a perfectly good stock 1968 hood many years back from a guy who bought a SS repop hood for his '68. It is still in storage and goes with the car. I finally saved the money and had the car repainted the original colors (green and black) a few years later less the original white rally stripe. I put 5 spoke Cragers and air shocks on it. This car with this color combo got the looks! I drove it as a second car until I got married in 1984. In 1985, the car then became my wife's daily driver until we lost interest in it and it was retired in 1991. She worked part time so the car didn't see a whole lot of miles. It has always been garaged. It has been sitting now collecting dust in my shop and has not been running for almost 20 years. The car has aprox 125,000 miles on it. It is a great project car with a good solid unmolested body and some awesome options such as deluxe molded interior, fold down rear seat, tic toc tac, console with gauges, hidden headlights and the green/black color combo w/deluxe black bucket interior. The car now needs total restoration of all running gear from sitting so long. The bucket seats need upholstery. It also needs a new and better paint job than it was given in the early 80's. It has American centerlines with 20 year old brand new BF Goodrich TA's on it and one of the tires will not hold air. The engine compartment has not been cleaned so it is filthy greasy and the engine would not turn over when I tried several years ago so probably needs replacing. I was always going to restore the car again but my kids have no interest so it's up for sale. Successful bidder responsible for all shipping costs. If you are seriously looking for a green/black 1968 RS project car, this is your car. $1000.00 non refundable deposit due thru pay pal within 24 hours of auction end and balance due as cashiers check within 7 days of auction end. I paid $300.00 for them back then. The seller told me he took them off his brand new car the same day he drove it off the showroom floor. I think he said off a 1968 or 1969 Corvette if I remember correctly? The original Green/White/Black GM sticker on the wheels states #3970530. I am not sure they are correct for a '68 Camaro RS, but they are cool.On Apr-15-10 at 11:59:58 PDT, seller added the following information: Yes, I will be happy to make certain all 4 tires hold air prior to transport pickup. On Apr-17-10 at 07:47:52 PDT, seller added the following information: I bought this car from the original owner in 1977. I guarantee it was originally a green/black paint w/black bucket interior Rally Sport from the factory. I guarantee it is NOT a clone. I do not know how to decifer the tag on the firewall, I just know what I bought in 1977. Suggest you contact people in your local car club to check the numbers on the tag and verify for you. Also, the car is available for you or your representative to inspect. Just email me your phone number and I will contact you to set up an appointment. On Apr-18-10 at 11:15:35 PDT, seller added the following information: 4/18/10 Added photos of trunk.
