Vehicle Detail

Up for your consideration is a one family owned 1968 Triumph GT6 MKI with Wire wheels and overdrive. This car seems to have led a nice pampered charmed life. There is not one bit of rust anywhere!! The body and chassis are extremely solid. The motor was rebuilt about 10k miles ago and the 4 speed transmission with factory D type overdrive has been freshly rebuilt by Triumphs Only in Stockton CA. The car runs very nice, motor starts up in the mornings right away with the pull of the choke knob and within minutes goes to a very smooth idle. There appear to be no oil leaks (Yes it has oil in it!!) and runs strong for the 6 cylinder 1998cc motor with twin Stromberg carburetors. The exterior body has been recently resprayed with all the rubber, chrome and lights removed before painting to its original factory color. It appears that all the exterior rubber parts were replaced and there is not one cracked or broken lens. There appears to be a very small amount of filler on the left side of the bonnet near the bonnet latch, otherwise there appears to be no filler in the very solid body. The paint does have one scratch on the top of the right bonnet which has been professionally touched up, if you look up very close it can be slightly noticeable. There are several door dings that are noticeable on the left door. Otherwise the body is very nice. The factory original EPA and factory emission control setting decals are still present on the underside of the bonnet. All the exterior chrome also appears to have been rechromed and shows very nicely. The area where the spare tire goes looks like new and has its original factory jack in place. All the factory original rear wood covering the spare tire and fuel tank fit perfectly. The interior needs carpeting replaced (a new high quality carpet kit comes with the car) the original factory white headliner has no rips or tears but is water stained, maybe this can be dyed instead of being replaced? The original top vinyl dash has no cracks or warps, the original veneered wooded dash has a few hairline cracks but is very, very nice. The original choke cable was replaced with a later style cable which has the wrong knob on it (square not round) and this knob can be taken off and a round one put one. The steering wheels 3 “bladed” crash pad needs replacement (same as TR250) and is available through Moss Motors for around $89. The driver’s seat has one place where at the seam is split, otherwise the seats have no rips or tears. The car has the optional 3 point safety harness (seat belts) The car has its original helmet head battery terminals, Tudor washer bottle, original factory service and owner’s manual including the original owners handbook supplement. The car has assigned newer California white license plates, although the original issued black plates are on the car, provided old documentation showing that these plates belong to the car is included making it very easy to have these plates reassigned to the car if so desired. The car’s front suspension appears to have been rebuilt, has almost new Yokohama tires (95% tread life left) on almost new wire wheels (no curb dents, loose spokes or rust and look like new!) A aftermarket glasspack muffler is installed giving the car a nice sound. To say the least this is a very nice, solid, mostly original GT6 MKI with overdrive and wire wheels, which are getting extremely hard to find in this condition and with original documentation!! Clean, clear California pink slip (Car’s title). Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!! If there is anything I have not covered in this description, please feel free to inquire! I will answer all questions honestly, check out my feedback!! I am happy to assist with shipping. PLEASE do NOT ask me to check shipping costs, thats your job!! From my location to Oakland California shipping docks, will cost $250 On Apr-12-10 at 21:57:53 PDT, seller added the following information: The paint code is 32 and the trim code is 11. Date 1st sold shown in the original Triumph servicing schedules manual is 10-08-1968. The revised pictures of the underside show little dimples. There appears to be a very light undercoating and these are "drips" and I popped off a few with my finger. There are also 4 rivets 2 in the front and two in the rear of the foot area of the floor pan, what these are for, I have no idea as they are not loose, which if they were holding something and that piece is gone they would be loose! Again to clarify there is no rust and NO replaced panels. These floors are original and rust free! Thanks for your questions! On Apr-18-10 at 19:45:34 PDT, seller added the following information: To answer question about the famous ol Lucas electrical system. The headlight switches work fine. With the dash switch on the 1st position all 4 park lights (2 front clear, 2 rear red) come on. With the second position all dash lights come on. The headlights are controlled by a coloum mounted switch, the 1st position both the low beams come on, the 2nd both the high beams come on along with the blue Hi beam indicator on the speedometer. The turn signals work fine. Both the 2 speed wiper and heater fan motors work fine. The ignition and oil pressure lights work on the speedometer. Reverse lights work when placed in reverse gear. There are 2 minor electrical items which do not work and that is the license plate illumination light and the rear dome light. I would assume that the bulbs need replacement, again this is an assumption. I will see if I can check these soon! Thanks again for your questions! On Apr-18-10 at 19:49:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention that all 4 gauges work fine too!! The horn does not!!
